Driving Factor

Extensive Utilization of Ball Bearings in Automobiles to Support Market Growth

The Europe ball bearings market growth is anticipated to experience a stable trajectory owing to the extensive usage of bearings by automakers in the region. For example, the 2021 BMW M3 and M4 models feature lightweight wheel bearings with a higher camber range and a unique swivel bearing. European carmakers are also developing bearings for electric cars, although the bearing requirements for these vehicles are much lower compared to regular cars. For example, the Volkswagen Golf contains only 50 bearings. In general, ball bearings are widely used by the automotive industry to ensure smooth functioning of vehicles. In case of steering, for instance, bearings provide the necessary support to the steering unit, which runs from the cabin to the engine area. The indispensability of ball bearings in automobiles will enable stable growth of this market. More importantly, Europe is home to some of the largest automotive companies in the world and these companies are strengthening their products with next-gen automotive components, which favor this market.

Five people shot in Lansing over Thanksgiving holiday weekend - Lansing State Journal

Hornets sign No. 3 overall pick LaMelo Ball to rookie contract - The Rookie Wire

Charlotte Hornets first-round pick LaMelo Ball on Monday reportedly signed his rookie contract, his agent, Raymond Brothers, told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Ball will earn $6,533,300 next season as the No. 3 overall pick.

The 19-year-old was named the 2020 NBL Rookie of the Year after averaging 17 points, 7.5 rebounds, seven assists and 1.7 steals in 12 games with the Illawarra Hawks. He also shot 37.3% from the field and 24.3% from 3-point range.

Ball will enter his rookie season with some lofty expectations as the third pick. Those goals even reached a new level recently after his father, LaVar, guaranteed he would win the 2020-21 NBA Rookie of the Year award with the Hornets.

Ball has been listed as the favorite to win the annual award by BetMGM over the likes of James Wiseman and Anthony Edwards, the top two picks. His prior professional experience is likely what gave him the edge to win after playing against bigger competition.

Hornets head coach James Borrego praised Ball for his previous background and believes that will help him transition into the NBA this season. Ball figures to have an opportunity to see plenty of playing time with the Hornets as they take the next step in their development.

Five questions the Clippers face heading into training camp - Los Angeles Times

The Seahawks are running the ball more, which means one thing for tonight's best bet - CBS Sports

russell-wilson-seahawks-3-edited-2.jpg

Good afternoon! I hope you enjoyed your holiday weekend and filled it with fabulous food and winners. Now, while it is Monday, and the weekend is technically over, that doesn't mean the football is over. Nope, tonight we have our usual Monday night fare with the Seahawks and Eagles squaring off in Philadelphia.

Which bird will prove to be superior? We'll find out!

Oh, and tonight's not even the last night of Week 12 in the NFL. Nope, the game between the Steelers and Ravens that had initially been scheduled for Thanksgiving night is still scheduled to take place on Tuesday. I say still scheduled because, well...

*gestures at the world around you*

But you know what's strange? I mean, besides *gestures at the world around you*? I'm not all that excited to watch tonight's NFL game. Nor am I excited about tomorrow's game. I think I might be suffering from Football Fatigue. There were three games on Thursday, followed by a full day of college football on Friday. Then we had a typical college Saturday and the NFL all day yesterday.

I could use a break from football, honestly. So I suppose it's a good thing we've got a full day of college basketball to watch, and the NBA will be starting soon. Variety is the spice of life, after all, and mixing things up will probably help keep me interested in tonight's game. As will betting on it, but before we get to what we're betting on, let's catch up on today's news.

To The Battle of the Birds.

đŸ”„ The Hot Ticket

Seahawks at Eagles, 8:15 p.m. | TV: ESPN
The Pick: Under 49 (-110)
: The Seahawks have been letting Russ cook for so long that the food is starting to burn. It was remarkable to see Seattle go from one of the most run-heavy teams in the NFL the last few years to one of the most pass-happy. Seattle has run the ball on first down only 45.2% of the time this season. That ranks 24th in the NFL and is well below the league average of 50.8%.

That trend has changed in recent weeks, though.

After Russell Wilson struggled in losses to the Bills and Rams, Pete Carroll said the Seahawks were going to run the ball more. He wasn't lying. In last week's 28-21 win over Arizona, Seattle ran the ball 50% of the time. More telling, the Seahawks ran the ball 57.1% of the time on first down. I expect that trend to continue on Monday night with the return of Chris Carson. As for the Eagles, their offense has been horrible all year, no matter their approach. Philly is scoring 1.72 points per drive, which ranks 29th in the NFL, ahead of only the Bears, Broncos and Jets. Carson Wentz has taken a significant step backward, and word is we're going to see more Jalen Hurts tonight. Having seen Hurts' college career, that leads me to believe the Eagles will be running the ball more too.

And both will be doing so against defenses that rank in the top 10 of Football Outsiders' running back yards metric. This isn't likely to be a high-scoring affair.

Key Trend: The under is 20-7 in Philly's last 27 home games.

Here's what SportsLine is saying about the game: Looking for some prop bets to make for tonight's games? SportsLine's Advanced Computer Model has released its favorites.

💰 The Picks

USATSI

🏀 College Basketball

Alabama vs. Stanford, 9:30 p.m | TV: ESPN2
The Pick: Under 152.5 (-110) --
As I wrote last week, I don't get too heavy into college basketball until a few weeks of action have passed. Typically, the early season action I look for involves teams playing in neutral sites they aren't accustomed to. This Monday night matchup stands out. Alabama has only played one game, and it was at home against Jacksonville State. Stanford will be making its season debut but had a top-10 defense last season, according to KenPom. It begins the year ranked 10th in defensive efficiency. Stanford combines that defense with a slower pace on offense, and, while Alabama is one of the quickest-moving offenses in the country, it's likely to have a more difficult time doing so against this Stanford defense.

Key Trend: The under is 18-7-1 in Stanford's last 26 neutral site games.

⚽ Champions League

Ajax at Liverpool, 3 p.m on Tuesday | TV: CBS All Access
The Pick: Liverpool (-150) --
I like this pick simply because you rarely get a price like this on Liverpool. Now, I understand why the price is where it is. Liverpool has struggled recently and is dealing with injuries. Jurgen Klopp has reached the point where he's blaming television networks for his team's bad luck, as if Liverpool is the only team in the country dealing with injuries this year. Well, all of it just makes me like Liverpool more. A win in this match would win Group D, and while Ajax is only two points behind Liverpool, I can't look past the first match between these two in Amsterdam. Liverpool won the match only 1-0, but they were also the more threatening side by far. Give me Angry Klopp and Company.

🔒 SportsLine Pick of the Day: SportsLine's all-time No. 1 expert Mike Tierney entered this season up $3,704 on all NFL picks and is 16-7 in his last 23 spread picks involving Seattle. He has released another selection for Monday night's showdown between the Seahawks and Eagles.

💾 The DFS Rundown

Your MVP or Captain

Russell Wilson -- While Russ might not be cooking as often, he's still the player most likely to lead the way in fantasy scoring tonight. I want Russ and Chris Carson in as many of my lineups as possible, but I want Russ as my MVP. While he struggled in losses to Buffalo and Los Angeles, only the Rams game was terrible from a fantasy perspective. He still managed three touchdowns in the other game. I'd expect another couple of touchdowns tonight.

Value

Jalen Hurts -- Hurts isn't starting at QB tonight, but he's going to see more snaps than usual. I wouldn't be surprised if those snaps come in the red zone, where Hurts' versatility could be more difficult for the Seattle defense to deal with. I don't think you should have Hurts in the majority of your lineups, but I'd sprinkle him in a few for sure.

Full lineup advice

SportsLine's team of DFS insiders has you covered for daily fantasy sports. Mike McClure has won almost $2 million playing DFS, and Jacob Gibbs was ranked as one of the nation's most accurate Fantasy experts last year. Plus, use SportsLine's all-new DFS Optimizer to get optimal NFL DFS picks from 10,000 simulations.

🏈 Monday Night Football Props

USATSI
  • Chris Carson to score 2 TD or more (+500)
  • Carson Wentz Over 11.5 rushing yards (-120)
  • Dallas Goedert Under 42.5 receiving yards (-125)
  • Greg Ward Over 2.5 receptions (-125)

This motion-activated pokĂ© ball ‘must never be thrown’ - The Verge

The Pokémon Company International and The Wand Company are teaming up to release premium replicas of the classic Poké Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Premier Ball. These $99.99 die-cast metal balls come with proximity-sensing tech that causes its button to light up and change color when pressed.

You might be thinking that the point of a pokĂ© ball, any pokĂ© ball, would be to be thrown, as decades of games and cartoons have taught — especially for one that’s motion activated — but not this ball, buddy! This is not a toy. A replica weights in at 10.5oz, which, according to the very first result on Google, is twice the weight of a baseball and 4.5oz heavier than a cue ball. It is distressingly described as having “real heft” and being “reassuringly solid.” And in case anyone still has the urge to chuck one at their least favorite friend, The Wand Company has an ominous warning: “This PokĂ© Ball must never be thrown.”

Did you think this was a promo picture? No, it is a threat.

The pokĂ© ball doesn’t open, which might make throwing it a little less appealing, and it does come with its own batteries. It’s available for preorder now for arrival next year, and there is absolutely nothing menacing about this video.

White Sox top prospects 2021: Garrett Crochet part of Chicago's top five after impressive MLB debut - CBS Sports

bolaboladulu.blogspot.com
garrett-crochet.png
Getty Images

The arrival of the offseason means that it's time to rank stuff. Already this winter, we've sized up the 60 best free agents, both on an overall and positional basis. There's no law that prevents us from ranking minor-league players in addition to their big-league counterparts. As such, we're going to spend the winter evaluating every team's farm system.

The lack of a minor-league season makes that more of a challenge this year. It doesn't help that some teams opted against sharing video and data from their alternate-site camps with the rest of the league. As such, we've opted against overthinking this. Our rankings will essentially be the same as they were last winter with a few changes. First, we'll exclude anyone who graduated by exhausting their rookie eligibility; second, we'll replace them with draftees or other worthy prospects; and third, and lastly, we'll present the information in a new format.

In every article in this series, you'll find a team's top five prospects as well as five others we felt like including, either because of their promise or some other reason. For those top five prospects, you'll find a quick summation of their pros (their saving grace, if one will) and their cons (their fault line), as well as beefier report and our attempt to peg their "likeliest outcome."

These rankings were compiled by talking to industry folks -- scouts, analysts, and other evaluators -- and include a touch of our own evaluative biases. Remember, that this is more of an art than a science, and that the write-ups matter more than the rankings themselves.

Now, let's get on to the top five prospects in the Chicago White Sox system.

Age (as of 4/1/2021): 24

Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 225 pounds

Acquired: Part of the Chris Sale trade (Red Sox)

Highest level: MLB

Saving grace: Fastball

Fault line: Last two years

Scouting report: Kopech appeared to have made significant strides with his command before making his big-league debut in 2018. He then tore his UCL after four starts, causing him to miss the entire 2019 season in the process. Kopech was supposed to be a big part of Chicago's rotation plans this year, but he opted out of the season before it started, leaving him more than two years removed from his last meaningful pitch. Kopech has top-notch stuff; there's just too much riding on his command to feel confident projecting more than a mid-rotation arm for now.

Likeliest outcome: Mid-rotation starter, perhaps more

Age (as of 4/1/2021): 23

Height/Weight: 6-foot, 215 pounds

Acquired: No. 3 pick in the 2019 draft (Cal)

Highest level: High-A

Saving grace: Bat

Fault line: Right-right first baseman

Scouting report: Vaughn is comparable in many ways to Spencer Torkelson, the No. 1 pick in the 2020 draft. They're both right-handed first basemen from the west coast who have all the tools -- eye, bat speed, strength, feel for contact and making adjustments -- and who should move quickly through the minors before taking their rightful spots in the middle of an order. On that note, there's a fair chance Vaughn will make his big-league debut before the year is over.

Likeliest outcome: Starting first baseman

3. Garrett Crochet, LHP

Age (as of 4/1/2021): 21

Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 218 pounds

Acquired: 11th pick in the 2020 draft (Tennessee)

Highest level: MLB

Saving grace: Arm strength

Fault line: Injuries

Scouting report: Crochet's professional debut came in the form of his big-league debut. He appeared in five regular-season games and a postseason game, showing off triple-digit velocity and an occasional swing-and-miss slider. Unfortunately, Crochet left his final appearance with an injury, which is a common theme for him. He made just one start before the college season was shuttered because of a physical issue, and other teams had reservations about his medicals during the draft process. There's no denying Crochet's impressive raw stuff -- he just might have to make his impact in a relief role if his body doesn't hold up under a starter's workload.

Likeliest outcome: Mid-rotation starter or end-game reliever

Age (as of 4/1/2021): 24

Height/Weight: 5-foot-8, 175 pounds

Acquired: Fourth pick in the 2018 draft (Oregon State)

Highest level: MLB

Saving grace: Hit tool

Fault line: Power

Scouting report: Madrigal is a unique talent. He has elite bat-to-ball skills that allow him to make contact on nearly 90 percent of his swings; he's also a fast runner and a skillful defender at the keystone. What he's not is someone who's going to draw many walks or hit for any power. His average exit velocity during his big-league stint was 84 mph, which put him in company with the likes of Tony Wolters, Delino DeShields Jr., and other undesirable hitter types. The good news for Madrigal is that those individuals are still big-league players, and that his maximum exit velocity (112) was a good deal higher, suggesting he's still likely to hit for a better average than they can and do. He'll need it in order to avoid the bottom of the order.

Likeliest outcome: Novelty; starting second baseman

Age (as of 4/1/2021): 23

Height/Weight: 6-foot-2, 215 pounds

Acquired: Fifth-round pick in the 2018 draft (Indiana)

Highest level: MLB

Saving grace: Fastball

Fault line: Secondary offerings

Scouting report: Stiever enjoyed a pop-up season in 2019, improving his stock to the point that other teams were asking for him in trade talks. Obviously the White Sox fended off those inquiries. Stiever has a quality fastball that sat around 92 mph during his big-league stint and that features a spin rate exceeding 2,300 rpm. In order to avoid a future in relief, he'll need to find more consistency with his secondary offerings, particularly a slider and changeup that missed big-league bats on about 10 percent of the swings taken against them. That won't play.

Likeliest outcome: No. 4 starter

Five others to know

  • Jared Kelley, RHP

Kelley had a good deal of helium heading into the draft thanks to his impressive velocity and above-average changeup. He slipped to the second round because of concerns over his ability to spin the baseball and his conditioning.

Part of the Adam Eaton return alongside Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez, Dunning made seven starts at the big-league level in 2020, posting a 3.97 ERA and a 2.69 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He probably won't pitch quite that well heading forward, but he has an average fastball and a good slider and he should occupy the back of a rotation so long as he stays healthy.

Thompson, Chicago's second-round pick in 2019, is an athletic right-hander with a quick arm and an aesthetically pleasing delivery. Both of his breaking balls have shown promise in the past, and their development could dictate if he's able to stick in a rotation.

Mercedes isn't your traditional prospect. He's nearly 28 years old, offers little defensive value, and has played for multiple organizations, including a few indy teams. Nevertheless, Mercedes reached the majors in 2020 because he can hit. He split 2019 between the upper minors, batting .317/.388/.581 with 23 home runs and promising peripherals, and there's no real reason to think he can't be effective at the big-league level. He's just probably in the wrong organization for getting a lengthy look at DH given the other candidates the team can call upon instead.

Sheets has the kind of big-time raw power typically associated with first-base/DH types … he just seldom puts it on display during games. His 16 home runs in 2019 represented a new career-high, yet he still failed to post an ISO over .150. Sheets isn't going to offer much secondary value -- he'll be a scratch defender, at best -- so clearing the fence more often is going to be necessary if he's going to have a lengthy big-league career.

Will Five Below Stock Be This Week's Biggest Winner? - Motley Fool

bolaboladulu.blogspot.com

These aren't too many companies reporting earnings during this part of the calendar, but some retailers with fiscal years that conclude at the end of January are stepping up with their third-quarter financial updates this week. One of the more intriguing chains that will do so is Five Below (NASDAQ:FIVE).

Five Below has emerged as a "cheap chic" haven for teens by offering bargain-priced closeouts on trendy items. It has also proven to be one of the more resilient retail players in the new normal. Shares of the company hit another all-time high on Friday, and one Wall Street pro predicts they will head even higher.

Edward Kelly at Wells Fargo has boosted his price target on Five Below from $155 to what is now a Street-high $182. He was the third analyst to raise his price goal this month, but the timing here matters. Five Below reports its fiscal third-quarter results after Wednesday's market close, so Kelly wouldn't have made the move he did early Monday morning unless he felt the retailer was about to impress the market again.

Shopping for bargains

The chain may be cheap for shoppers, but its stock may not initially seem that way for investors. Five Below trades at nearly 90 times trailing reported earnings, and its enterprise value clocks in at 5.7 times trailing net sales. Those valuations are not for the faint of heart when it comes to brick-and-mortar retailers. Even Amazon.com fetches a lower top-line multiple and its trailing bottom-line valuation is comparable.

Five Below also admittedly has a weak e-commerce game -- last quarter, it delivered hardly any sales growth. The red flags are everywhere, and even Wells Fargo's Kelly was a bit hesitant in his bullish update. He stuck to his overweight rating on the shares -- naturally -- but he did point out that the stock has run up quite a bit already in recent months. He also feels that questions remain as to how Five Below will fare over the holidays, but he still tapped it as one of the best growth stories among consumer stocks, and credits it with having the potential to surprise analysts on the upside in 2021.

As for Five Below's weak top-line growth, if one digs a bit deeper into the numbers, it becomes clear that the company is actually killing it right now. It's true that net sales plunged 45% in its fiscal first quarter, which ended in early May, but the company had to temporarily shutter all of its stores halfway through the period when the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

When net sales rebounded to 2% growth in its fiscal second quarter, it was actually an encouraging beat. Analysts had been bracing for a 3% decline. It was Five Below's brisk expansion -- it has grown its empire by 18% to 982 stores -- that helped offset its negative comps figure, which was the natural result of ongoing closures during the early portion of the period.

Store closures will be less of a factor in Wednesday's report. Wall Street expects net sales to climb 18% for the quarter, and anticipates the chain will deliver its strongest earnings growth of the fiscal year.

Five Below's concept is working. Stocking items priced at $5 or less -- hence the name -- has made it magnetic to brick-and-mortar shoppers at a time when many other physical chains' business models are buckling. It makes the most of its retail space, and landlords are hungry for tenants that can draw and pay.

E-commerce is still not a major part of the story, but that's fine for now. Five Below continues to find new ways to drum up interest in its format. It recently launched a store section that features items costing up to $10, which considerably broadens the possibilities for what it can stock. It has been stepping up its dot-com game recently as well. It will be worth watching to see whether it can develop its e-commerce channel into something that can move the needle for it in the near future.

This company has weathered the pandemic in part because it operates under a model that's well-built to outlast recessions. Another strong report this week could push Five Below shares to new all-time highs. Investors like to go shopping, too.

Rounding out the top 10 this week is Duke, Kansas, Michigan State, Creighton and Houston, setting up a must-watch Champions Classic on Tuesday featuring two top-10 teams in Duke and Michigan State. The second of the event's doubleheader features No. 7 Kansas and No. 20 Kentucky. The Wildcats fell 10 spots after falling to Richmond on Sunday.

Coors Light and Ball Team Up to Bring Infinitely Recyclable Aluminum Cups to Allegiant Stadium Fans - WFMZ Allentown

WESTMINSTER, Colo. and LAS VEGAS, Nov. 30, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Coors Light and Ball Corporation (NYSE: BLL) today announced an agreement to bring the infinitely recyclable Ball Aluminum Cup™ to guests at the new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Ball, a leader in cutting-edge, sustainable aluminum beverage packaging, designed the lightweight aluminum cups in response to growing consumer preference for more sustainable options when enjoying their favorite beverages.

Molson Coors (which makes Allegiant Stadium's official domestic beer, Coors Light, as well as its official craft beer, Hop Valley, and official hard seltzer, Vizzy),  is doing their part to support the stadium's sustainability goals, as well as their own.

"We're proud to team up with Coors Light to bring fans at Allegiant Stadium an enhanced beverage experience and sustainable hospitality options from the start with our game-changing and infinitely recyclable aluminum cup," said Daniel W. Fisher, Ball's chief operating officer, global beverage packaging. "We introduced the aluminum cup to meet the growing demand for more sustainable packaging choices, and we're excited that our partnership with Coors Light will give fans visiting Allegiant Stadium an opportunity to further their efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle."

"Coors Light has a long history of sustainable product innovation – in fact, many people don't know that we pioneered the first-ever aluminum cans to hit the market back in 1959," says Adam Dettman, Director of partnerships and licensing at Molson Coors North America. "We're proud to continue this history by partnering with Ball to ultimately provide fans with an eco-conscious experience, and a built-in piece of memorabilia that guests can take home after enjoying a game or event at Allegiant Stadium."

Upon the start of activities at Allegiant Stadium, 100,000 of the 20-ounce aluminum cups will be available in the club seats at all events. Through this collaboration, Allegiant Stadium joins a growing number of professional football stadiums that feature the Ball Aluminum Cup™ at scale. Molson Coors encourages fans to drink responsibly.

Infinitely recyclable and economically valuable, aluminum is the most sustainable beverage packaging material, and like aluminum cans, aluminum cups can be easily recycled. In fact, 75 percent of the aluminum ever produced is still in use today. In addition to its sustainability and recycling strengths, the aluminum cup is lightweight, sturdy, cool to the touch and provides an elevated experience. It also can be customized with logos and graphics, as it will be for Allegiant Stadium.

Five to Discover: The Dina Martina Edition - American Songwriter

bolaboladulu.blogspot.com

In this – the age of the Coronavirus – many of us are stuck at home, isolated with only TV screens and the glow of laptops and phones to keep us connected. In other words, there isn’t much to do.

However, one thing that is available to us all is the wide world of recorded music. And now is as good a time as ever to get to know some bands you may not have heard of but ones that you will assuredly enjoy, dear reader.

So, in this special edition of our Discovery Series, buckle up and get ready for a digital ride around the creative mind of the one and only Dina Martina (of J Mascis fame) during this wacky-one-of-a-kind-special-holiday-season!!!

Santa Clause
We’ll begin with a short, two-minute gem from the drag artist, Dina Martina, who splits time between Seattle and Provincetown, Massachusetts. In this little ditty, Martina describes the rotund, jolly Ol’ St. Nick how only she can with mispronounced words, sterling intentions and a comically jarring lack of self-awareness. Or, perhaps, Martina is so aware that she knows exactly what she’s doing at all times (wink, wink).

Away in the Manger
One doesn’t get the sense Martina is religious. It doesn’t feel like she’s particularly honoring anyone or anything in her recitations of Christmas carols like this one. It’s almost as if she’s singing the songs she picked up drifting around her own psyche as a young person. Nevertheless, Martina delightfully flubs this song so well, it’s worth playing when putting the star crookedly (again) atop your tree.

Angels We Have Heard on High
It’s as if she hasn’t read the lyrics (or practiced) this timeless church-tied standard. How many out there today have walked the pews, smelling the incense, hearing this classic belted on the organ on December 24th or 25th. Regardless of personal association, Martina butchers it so badly and so shrilly that she busts sides in the process.

Christmas
In this track, listeners get a sense of the singer’s flighty, free-association storytelling. During non-pandemic winters, Martina is famous for her live shows in Seattle, New York and Provincetown. Legendary movie director, John Waters, famously adores her. In her live shows, she gives gifts (“jifts”) and sings and tells off the wall story versions like this.

The Christmas Song
This last example includes a spy cell phone camera video of a bit of Martina’s live standup before she goes into song. She’s odd. Enthralling. Engaging. A Holiday Miracle complete with bright red lipstick. She’s a bright spot in this time of 4 pm sunsets and continued social distancing.

Video of Amazing New Meltdown Ice Ball Press Goes Viral - PRNewswire

AKRON, Ohio, Nov. 30, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- It's the dream of every new company to have a product video go viral and set off an ordering rampage. But, for Ohio-based, premium ice ball press maker, Meltdown, it didn't just happen once, it happened twice, and in just a matter of a few weeks.

Like any new brand launching in the year of the pandemic, 2020 proved to be a challenge for Meltdown. But, Meltdown owners, the Steere family, including patriarch Bill, along with sons Brock and Brian, were in this for the long haul, and the rocky start allowed them time to continue product development.

It wasn't until later in the summer that they turned their ad agency, Scales, the agency known for building the YETI brand, loose to introduce Meltdown to the affluent drinker.

One move was to sponsor the Bourbon Pursuit podcast. A few weeks into that sponsorship, Bourbon Pursuit partner, Kenny Coleman, decided to post the now famous Tik-Tok video of a Meltdown making an ice ball. Within hours, the video was seen by over 5,000 people. By the next morning, that number had skyrocketed to 3.1 million and the proverbial snowball was rolling down the hill.

The Steeres were soon pulling out all stops to keep up with manufacturing and order fulfillment, and by the time the dust settled, over 10.3 million people had seen the video.

One group that noticed was Gloss, a media company that curates the best in art, food and culture. They showed "Food Porn," an Australian-based concern for foodies who reposted the video on Facebook, and the second sales spike had begun. This early November post was seen by 29.7 million people. And that resulted in an Instagram post by celebrity Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. His post was viewed by 21.1 million people.

All told, by Thanksgiving, over 100 million people watched the viral video.  As for the Steeres, they are busy trying to deliver Meltdowns and are thankful for viral videos. They are sending special personalized Meltdowns to "Food Porn" and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

About Meltdown: A sphere is the optimal shape for the ice in your drink. An ice ball has 24% less surface area compared to the same volume of ice in cube form. Less surface area exposed to warm liquid means slower ice melt and less drink dilution without sacrificing chilling power. The coolest way to make ice balls is with a Meltdown Ice Ball Press.

Ice ball presses have become very popular. But if you've used one, you probably question their two-pin design. These pins can be difficult to line up, and because ice does not melt uniformly, this design can cause chattering. The pins are also susceptible to damage.

Meltdown has no pins. The cover rides down grooves built into the base. This design makes it far easier to align and it is not prone to chattering or accidental damage.

It takes about a minute to make a perfect sphere of ice in Meltdown. But it is worth the  wait as your guests can watch the meltwater cascading down the sides of Meltdown as the ice melts. It's mesmerizing and makes for a great conversation piece.

There are three Meltdown models. All Meltdown Ice Ball Presses are proudly made in America. Meltdown can be engraved with your initials.
