After making an official visit to Clemson on Saturday, Korey Foreman — the top-ranked player in the 2021 class — is leaning toward the Tigers, according to several insiders close to his recruitment.
Clemson247 insider Anna Hickey, 247Sports Director Of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong and 247Sports national recruiting analysts Greg Biggins, Brandon Huffman and Tom Loy all have penned Foreman, a Corona, California native, to Clemson in their Crystal Ball predictions this weekend.
LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, and USC have been among Clemson's primary competition for Foreman to date, according to Hickey. Foreman (6-foot-4, 245 pounds) took his first visit to Clemson in late July after receiving an offer about a week earlier. Clemson emerged as one of the potential favorites following the summer visit, but competition has been stiff.
Clemson assistant Todd Bates is the lead in Foreman's recruitment, hoping to add the elite-level edge to the Tigers' 2021 haul.
Biggins, the first to Crystal Ball Foreman to Clemson on Saturday night night, compares athletic pass rusher to Dallas Cowboys pass rusher DeMarcus Lawrence.
"Has a prototype frame for a strong side rush end. Has plenty of room to add good weight by the time he hits college," Biggins writes in his scouting report. "Is a versatile defensive end who could play in any scheme. Is very strong, quick off the ball and has multiple ways to beat a tackle. He plays with advanced technique, uses his hands well and has the power to bull rush or long arm a tackle in to the quarterback or beat him off the edge with quickness.
"He plays with a motor and is very good in backside pursuit. He’s a plus athlete who’s strong at the point of attack and shows enough athleticism to break down and make plays in space. Can continue to improve as an athlete but really checks off every box and is still filling out as he matures. Projects as a impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future high round NFL draft pick."
Foreman, a stronside defensive end, is the No. 1 player — regardless of position — in the 2021 cycle per the 247Sports Composite.
