ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- So many people across the country and around the world are still processing Kobe Bryant's sudden and tragic death. Many mourners in Rochester coping with the news the only way they know how.
"We've been playing a long time," Lee Green said.
But Monday's pickup session, was different.
"I'll be real with you, I'm still not even here," John Anderson said.
Without an empty court in sight, players came into the Rochester Athletic Club with heavy hearts.
"Some of these guys are really emotional," Green said. "I'm emotional."
The passing of the NBA legend has the players reflecting.
"I think I'm going to be okay," Anderson said. "But how am I going to survive the rest of this year, know that there ain't no Kobe Byrant?"
"We're just going to miss him as a human being on this Earth," Brad Narr said.
"You talk about the Lakers, you talk about basketball, you can never talk about basketball and not mention Kobe Byrant," Anderson continued. "The man was an animal. He was everything on the court and then he was a great man off the court."
Reflecting about Bryant's contributions to the game both on and off the court.
"Extreme relentlessness, work ethic, not just working harder, but working smarter," Anderson said.
"He made you work hard and dedicate yourself to everything you did. That's one thing I'll always remember about him and be inspired by him," Chris Osei said. "Remembering that eight and 24 -- that's Kobe, that's no body else."
"There's so much division in the country now," Narr said. "But when you get out here and the ball started bouncing, the guys divide the teams and somebody makes a shot, it doesn't matter if they are old or young. If they can jump or can't jump, if they are black, white or yellow."
"We want to keep on playing for Kobe, you know?" Green said. "Everytime we are out here, we are playing for Kobe."
And picking up a basketball? Theraputic.
"There right here," Anderson said, motioning to the court. "This was Kobe Bryant, right here."
It was announced Monday that Kobe Bryant will be a first-ballot enshrinement into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame later this year.
