Five Miami students test positive for COVID-19 - Miami Student

bolaboladulu.blogspot.com

Five Miami University students living off-campus have tested positive for the novel coronavirus according to an email from Dean of Students Kimberly Moore sent on May 22.

The email advises students who attended off-campus gatherings on or after May 8 to monitor themselves for coronavirus symptoms for 14 days after their last day in Oxford.

Interim Director of University News and Communications Carole Johnson and Jessica Greene Oxford City Manager Jessica Greene could not be immediately reached for comment.

Uptown businesses and the Oxford Police Department have been concerned with the lack of social distancing and mask wearing among students as they have been returning to Oxford to move out or celebrate graduation.

It is unclear where or when the five students were infected.

As of 3 p.m. on May 22, Butler County had a total of 745 confirmed cases.

This is a developing story, and information will be provided as it becomes available.

Correction: A previous version of this article stated the university asked students to self quarantine. The university actually asked students to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms.
