For players who don't want to go through the weekly grind of making trades, setting lineups and keeping track of the waiver wire, Fantasy football best ball leagues are the way to go. It's a format that leans heavily on the draft because the players you pick are the ones who are on your roster all season. Because Fantasy football best ball strategy is different from other types of leagues, finding the most accurate 2020 Fantasy football best ball rankings is critical.
A player like Denver Broncos receiver Courtland Sutton is somebody to consider when making your 2020 Fantasy football picks for best ball leagues. He only went over 100 yards twice in 2019, but with Drew Lock leading what should be a more pass-happy attack in Denver, he has the weekly upside that best ball players are looking for. Before you make any decisions about your 2020 Fantasy football best ball picks, see what SportsLine's Scott Engel has to say. His 2020 Fantasy football best ball rankings can help make sure you get maximum value out of every pick.
Engel is an inaugural member of the Fantasy Sports Writers Association's Hall of Fame and has been a premier analyst and Fantasy personality for nearly 25 years. He is a four-time FSWA Award Winner and nine-time nominee.
In addition to being the Fantasy writer for the official site of the Seattle Seahawks since 2012, Engel has appeared on ESPN.com, NFL.com, Yahoo Sports, the New York Post, USA Today, SI.com, Rotoballer and Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio and many other major sports news outlets. Engel also pulled off a three-peat in his highly-competitive New York City Fantasy football league in 2019 that features high-stakes players and top experts.
Now, Engel has released his 2020 Fantasy football best ball rankings and revealed his top sleepers, breakouts and busts so you'll have an edge.
Top 2020 Fantasy football best ball picks
Engel is extremely high on Cardinals running back Kenyan Drake in his Fantasy football best ball rankings 2020. Barely a factor with the Dolphins at the beginning of the 2019 season, Drake was traded to the Cardinals after Week 7 and became an impact Fantasy player in Kliff Kingsbury's system.
Despite the quick adjustment, Drake hit the 100-yard rushing mark three times in eight games and piled up eight total touchdowns. He was also a regular target out of the backfield, making at least three catches in six games. With David Johnson out of the picture and DeAndre Hopkins now making the Cardinals potentially more dynamic, Engel loves Drake's upside this season.
"Drake had three 17-plus points games to finish 2019 and is very appealing upside play for 2020," Engel told SportsLine.
And a massive shocker: Ravens running back Mark Ingram, who has recorded over 1,000 rushing yards and at least 10 rushing touchdowns in two of his last three seasons, stumbles big-time and barely cracks the top 30 at his position.
Ingram was an intricate part of Baltimore's explosive rushing offense in 2019, helping the Ravens finish with the top-ranked rushing offense in the league. The former Heisman Trophy winner averaged 5.0 yards per carry, finishing with 1,018 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. Ingram also hauled in 26 receptions for 247 yards and five additional scores.
However, Ingram is now 30 years old and could see his Fantasy value diminish after Baltimore drafted rookie running back J.K. Dobbins in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Dobbins ran for over 2,000 yards in his final season at Ohio State and is expected to chip into Ingram's workload. "Baltimore drafting rookie J.K. Dobbins damages Ingram's Fantasy value in all formats," Engel told SportsLine.
