Danny Pinter, Amber Seaman Honored with MAC Medal of Excellence - BallStateSports.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ball State football offensive lineman Danny Pinter and volleyball setter Amber Seaman were named as Mid-American Conference Medal of Excellence Award winners for the 2019-20 academic year. The Medal of Excellence is an award presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete from the graduating class of each of the league's 12 member institutions.

"The Medal of Excellence Award is a reinforcement of the core values that we as a conference and each of our member institutions all possess with excellence in academics, athletics, leadership and service," said MAC Commissioner, Jon A. Steinbrecher. "We congratulate all of our Medal of Excellence Award winners."

Pinter, a native of South Bend, Indiana, had a memorable senior year at Ball State. He started all 12 games at right tackle in 2019 and helped the Cardinals lead the league in total offense (463.0 yards per game). Following the season, he earned the team's John Magnabosco Award (most outstanding player) and was the first BSU offensive lineman to come away first team All-MAC accolades in seven years. A MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete, Pinter completed his MBA this spring and was picked by the Indianapolis Colts in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. He was also active in the Muncie community, participating in efforts with the Muncie Children's Museum, Ross Community Center and Muncie Mission in addition to speaking to area school children.

Seaman, hailing from Carmel, Indiana, helped guide the Cardinals to the 2019 MAC Tournament title and berth in the NCAA Tournament. The 2018 MAC Setter of the Year was a starter all four years at Ball State and earned MAC West Setter of the Week eight times throughout her collegiate career. She leaves Ball State ranked fourth in the program annals in service aces (140) and fifth in assists (4,162). A three-time MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete, Seaman earned her bachelor's degree this semester while finishing with a 3.92 GPA. In the community, she volunteered for Ball State's Dance Marathon and A Better Way for several years. Seaman also graciously gave her time at the Muncie Animal Shelter and was involved in various community service projects for Ball State Athletics, including numerous events for the Cardinal Kids Club.

To be honored with the Medal of Excellence Award, student-athletes must participate on the varsity level in a conference sponsored sport, show evidence of academic success with a minimum 3.50 accumulative grade-point average and exhibit athletics excellence, leadership and service. Selection of the recipients was made by each MAC institution.
