MUNCIE, Ind. -- Five Ball State women's golfers were named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) for the 2019-20 season.

It marks the second year in a row the Cardinals have had at least five golfers earn the recognition. Last year BSU had a program-record six selections. It is also the second straight year BSU has led the MAC in All-American Scholar selections, tying this year with Akron, Bowling Green and Toledo.

To earn the recognition, student-athletes must own a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and participate in at least 50 percent of their team's regularly scheduled competitive rounds.

Manon Tounalom and Liz Kim were named All-American Scholars for the third consecutive season, while Morgan Lewis, Hadley Moritz and Tiegan Taylor each earned the honor for the second time in their careers. All five of them competed in every competitive round this season as part of the BSU lineup.

Tounalom, a senior from Buchelay, France, graduated this spring with a finance degree and a 3.63 GPA. She led the Cardinals in scoring average for the third straight year at 76.58. Her 76.90 career average ranks second in program history behind only Brittany Kelly.

Kim, a psychological science major from Dublin, Ohio, boasts a 3.98 GPA. The junior was second on the team with a 77.38 average and was BSU's top finisher three times. Lewis, also a psychological science major, owns a 3.71 GPA. The sophomore from Fishers, Indiana, managed a stroke average of 79.39.

Moritz, a sophomore elementary education major from Wheaton, Illinois, carries a 3.97 GPA. She recorded a 77.75 scoring average and three top-10 finishes this season. Taylor, who owns a 3.93 GPA in general studies, finished with a 79.13 scoring average in her first year with the Cardinals. The junior from Kelowna, British Columbia, previously earned All-American Scholar honors during her career at New Mexico State.

The cumulative team GPA of 3.67 for women's golf is currently the highest of any Ball State team. On the course, the Cardinals had three top-3 tournament finishes this season, including a win at their own Cardinal Classic, before the season was cut short by COVID-19.
