Al Pawlowski’s favorite dining choices - Five for Friday - cleveland.com

bolaboladulu.blogspot.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio - We checked in with Al Pawlowski, SportsTime Ohio host with Jensen Lewis for pregame and postgame Indians coverage, about his favorite dining choices for our weekly "Five for Friday" feature.

Pawlowski is a jack-of-all-trades broadcaster in radio and television, calling games and working as an emcee at events.

Each week we survey a notable Clevelander about where they like to eat in Northeast Ohio. Here's Pawlowski's choices:

1. What’s your favorite restaurant and why?

This is a difficult one for me; I like so many. LockKeeper's (8001 Rockside Road, Valley View, 216-524-9404) is probably tops for their combination of menu selections, atmosphere and service. It's all good. I also like Barrio downtown (503 Prospect Ave., Cleveland, 216-862-4652). They're open late and their kitchen is open late - great for people who work in the pro sports/TV world. We always seem to be getting out late. I also like how most everyone who works there remembers you and remembers what you like to eat/drink. Delmonico's (6001 Quarry Lane, Independence, 216-573-1991) is right there, too. I've ordered several things off of their menu, and it's all good.

2. Favorite dish you have ordered from anywhere?

I have a lot of favorites. My most recent and "newest to me" is the Poke Bowl I had at Shinto (17070 Pearl Road, Strongsville, 440-878-3868). They have a few different kinds. I had the shredded steak one. Fantastic.

3. Favorite dish to make at home?

Garlic and lemon chicken with asparagus and/or broccoli and redskin potatoes. OK, I'll admit, I don't make it, my wife, Jessica, does. But it is made in our home :-).

4. What is your favorite patio or outdoor dining spot?

Merwin's Wharf (1785 Merwin Ave., Cleveland, 216-664-5696). A fantastic place to dine outside. They have activities if you're in to that, or just take in all that's happening on the Cuyahoga River. Twin Oast Brewing on Catawba Island (3630 NE Catawba Road, Port Clinton, 419-573-6126) is the best large outdoor setting I've seen in North/Northeast Ohio for dinner or drinks.

5. Favorite drink or dessert in Northeast Ohio?

Vanilla creme brulee at Delmonico's. Just ridiculous.
