Ivy Tech Community College graduates will have a smooth transition to Ball State University as a result of a new agreement between the two institutions.
The new Guaranteed Admissions Agreement (GAA) allows Ivy Tech students who earn an associate of science degree in Transfer Single Articulation Pathways (TSAP) programs to be guaranteed admission into designated bachelor degree programs at Ball State.
“This new agreement provides a seamless way for students from Ivy Tech Community College to find their new home at Ball State,” said Susana Rivera-Mills, Ball State’s provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. “Without question, Ivy Tech students are highly motivated for success. And our University is well positioned to assist these new Cardinals as they become acclimated to our campus.”
Students who enrolled at Ivy Tech on or after June 1 will be eligible for the guaranteed admission option. Students who complete an associate degree at Ivy Tech and then apply for admission into Ball State in a program not covered by GAA may be admitted on an individual basis.
“We have always valued our relationship and collaboration with Ball State. We have a long history developing initiatives that have not only benefited our institutions but have made an impact on our communities and students. Ivy Tech is proud that many of our students complete their degree at Ivy Tech and transfer to Ball State seamlessly. This guaranteed admissions agreement is the latest example of doing the right thing for the right reason,” said Ivy Tech Muncie Chancellor Jeffrey D. Scott.
To assist students considering transfer, Ball State opened the Transfer Center in 2019. The Transfer Center provides students with a personalized experience in their transition to Ball State. Students can make an appointment to speak with a staff member by phone or video chat about their options and how their credits will transfer. With a Transfer Flight Path, a staff member helps future Cardinals strategically plan courses at their current school that will integrate with the curriculum at Ball State.
Christopher Sherck, Transfer Center director and the center’s team, are expanding the University’s partnerships with community colleges like Ivy Tech and Vincennes University by visiting students in their classrooms and meeting with advisors and students at various Ivy Tech campuses.
