Cleveland police respond to five shootings in less than 3 hours on city’s East Side - cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland police officers responded to five shootings in a less than 3-hour window overnight Saturday into Sunday, according to police logs.

Four of the five shootings had male victims, according to Cleveland police. Each of the shootings occurred on the city’s East Side, but all in different neighborhoods. Cleveland police provided the following information about each shooting Sunday morning:

9:51 p.m.: A 20-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh. He was taken to University Hospitals in a private vehicle. He told police at the hospital that he was shot near the intersection of East 36th Street and Quincy Avenue, in Cleveland’s Central neighborhood.

11:07 p.m.: A 30-year-old man was shot in the head near the intersection of East 93rd Street and Harvard Avenue in the city’s Union-Miles neighborhood, Cleveland police say. He was taken to MetroHealth by paramedics. His current condition is unknown.

11:23 p.m.: A 23-year-old man was shot in the back at a home on the 1000 block of East 71st Street, in the city’s St. Clair-Superior neighborhood. The man was taken to University Hospitals by paramedics, police say. He was listed as critical when he was transported, but his current condition is unknown.

12:25 a.m.: A 45-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was shot at the Willson Apartments, at the corner of East 55th Street and Chester Avenue, bordering Cleveland’s Goodrick-Kirtland Park and Hough neighborhoods. The man was taken to University Hospitals by paramedics.

Cleveland Metropolitan Housing Authority police are handling the shooting investigation, since Willson Apartments is their property, Cleveland police said.

12:26 a.m.: A 58-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to her leg, police say. She was shot at a house on the 10700 block of Hathaway Avenue, in the city’s Glenville neighborhood. She was taken to MetroHealth for treatment.

Cleveland police has not named any suspects or announced any arrests in the five shootings as of Sunday afternoon. This post will be updated if more information becomes available.
