Water Polo Has Five Named to MAAC 40th Anniversary Team - Villanova University Official Athletic Site

Edison, N.J.- The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) is celebrating its 40th Anniversary throughout the 2020-21 academic year.   The 40th Anniversary Water Polo Team highlights some of the best student-athletes in MAAC history.

Villanova five former student-athletes chosen to the team are, Julie Conrath '16, Ellen Howe '05, Kim Pare '06, Naomi Ng '16, and Carla Martinez '08.

Julie Conrath played in goal for the Wildcats from 2013-16 and was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2016.  During her senior season she also was named to the MAAC All-Conference First Team and to the MAAC All-Tournament team in 2015 and 2016.  In goal over her four years she recorded 1,161 saves and was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week twice.  Conrath was named to the ACWPC All-Academic Team in 2016 and to the MAAC All-Academic Team three times.    

Ellen Howe was a utility player for Villanova from 2002-05, the Wildcats joined the MAAC prior to the 2003 season.  Howe earned All-MAAC Conference and All-Tournament honors three times.  Over her four years she netted 192 goals, dished out 162 assists for 354 points.  During Villanova's first season in the conference Howe was named to the All-Conference First team and earned second team honors the following two years.  She was also named to the CWPA All-Southern Division Second Team in 2003 and 2004 and to the ACWPC All-Academic Team in 2002 and 2003.    

Kim Pare was a driver for the Wildcats from 2003-06 and was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2006.  Pare finished her four-year career with 343 points on 270 goals and 73 assists. She was named to the MAAC All-Conference First Team three times (2003, 05,06) and to the Second Team once (2004).  Pare and the Wildcats made the MAAC Championships all four season and she was named to the All-Tournament Team during her junior and senior season.  In 2004 she was named to the CWPA All-Southern Division Second Team and was also named their Player of the Week in March of that season.  Academically, Pare was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team three times and to the ACWPA All-Academic Team in 2003. 

Naomi Ng was a driver for Villanova from 2013-16 and was named to the MAAC All-Conference Team all four seasons.  Ng netted 188 goals during her four years of the team and lead the Wildcats offensively during her final two seasons.  In 2013 Ng was named to the All-Conference Second Team and the final three seasons was named to the First Team.  In 2014 when the Wildcats qualified for the MAAC Championship, Ng was named to the All-Tournament Team. 

Carla Martinez was a driver for the Wildcats from 2005-08 and was named to the MAAC All-Conference Team three straight seasons.  Martinez finished her Villanova career with 224 points, scoring 147 goals and dishing out 77 assists.  In 2006 she was named to the All-Conference second team and during her final two season earned First Team honors.  In 2007 she was named Offensive Player of the Week in February and to the Conference All-Tournament Team.
