Two people died and three others were injured in a shooting near San Jose State University on Tuesday night, police said.
San Jose police released few details on Tuesday night, but said officers responded to a report of one person being shot at about 10 p.m. in the 600 block of S. 8th Street in Downtown San Jose.
Officers found five people with at least one gun-shot wound each, San Jose police spokesman Sgt. Christian Camarillo said in a statement.
Two people, whose names were not immediately released on Tuesday night, died at the scene. Three other victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment, Camarillo said. Their conditions were unknown on Tuesday night.
“No suspect description or motive available at the moment as this investigation is still active,” Camarillo said. “This is a preliminary advisory and we will provide additional details as they become available.”
