TEWKSBURY — Lowell Five Bank employees have chosen to support the Hidden Battles Foundation by selecting it to receive their 2020 Lowell Five Employee Charitable Giving Award for the second quarter.
Each year, Lowell Five employees select four charitable organizations from a list of employee-elected nominees to be the recipients of a Quarterly Charitable Giving Award. The second-quarter $7,440 award constitutes the proceeds from voluntary employee donations matched by the bank.
“Lowell Five employees are honored to recognize Hidden Battles Foundation as our second-quarter charitable organization,” said Traci Doliber, senior BSA/AML analyst and a member of the Employee Charitable Giving Committee. “Hidden Battles proudly serves first responders, veterans, fire and police officers in Massachusetts and New Hampshire by preserving their healthy minds through treatment and counseling for depression, suicidal tendencies and PTSD.”
Westford Police Officer and Army veteran Scott Hyder founded Hidden Battles in 2017 in response to the suicide of his brother, a retired correction officer. The nonprofit organization’s mission is to help veterans, police officers, firefighters and first responders who fight a hidden battle against depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Hidden Battles Foundation is based in Lowell and operates as a component fund of the Greater Lowell Community Foundation.
“With great partners such as Lowell Five, we will be able to offer programs to front-line first responders, veterans and essential medical staff to address mental health issues through activity-driven therapy,” Hyder said. “There is a need for programs to help assist these heroes with managing stress and trauma stemming from their compassionate work while wearing the uniform in our communities and overseas.”
