The 2020 NBA Draft that was originally scheduled for June is now scheduled to take place in November. So this year's prospects are having to wait five months longer than normal to learn where they'll be living, working and playing for the foreseeable future. That's not ideal. And the predraft process is obviously unusual because of the COVID-19 pandemic that's disrupted our country since March.
Nothing is normal.
But, eventually, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will announce the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. And, in another not-normal twist, it appears, at this point, that it could be any one of three or maybe even four players. Reasonable minds can disagree on who should go first. Nobody is the clear-cut favorite. And that's a fact that brings more intrigue to the top of the draft than what often exists.
Will it be LaMelo Ball? Or Anthony Edwards? Or James Wiseman.
Or someone else?
We might not know until Silver says it out loud on Nov. 18. In the meantime, the Timberwolves and other franchises picking in the top five will continue to evaluate and debate, all in an attempt to ensure they get it right when it's time to get it right.
