The Tigers earned four singles wins and their first doubles victory of the weekend to close out the three-day event hosted by Vanderbilt.
"(Assistant coach) Raquel (Atawo) and I both really liked how we chose to play doubles today," Auburn head coach Caroline Lilley said. "The aggressiveness we brought to both matches was fun to watch. We enjoyed a competitive weekend of tennis as we have some clear areas to improve and sharpen moving forward."
Auburn won four of six singles matches against opponents from Ole Miss in the morning session. Selin Ovunc made it a perfect 3-0 weekend in singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Tiphanie Fiquet. Three others picked up their second wins of the weekend: Yu Chen downed Kelsey Mize, 6-2, 6-1; Georgie Axon won a back-and-forth battle in a match tiebreak, 7-6, 6-7, 1-0 (10-7), and Taylor Russo also took her match the distance with a 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) victory over Lillian Gabrielsen.
The Rebels' Sabina Machalova defeated Auburn's Carolyn Ansari, 7-6 (4), 6-0, and the Tigers' Shir Azran fell to Ole Miss' Elysia Pool, 7-6 (8), 6-4.
In the afternoon session against opponents from Vanderbilt, Auburn's team of Ansari and Ovunc picked up the Tigers' first doubles win of the weekend with a 6-4 victory over Vandy's team of Kurtz and Lee. Russo and Azran fell by a 6-4 score to Cruz and Staff to close out the weekend.
