Gaga Ball Pit Planned for Lions Park; Dog Agility Park Can Wait - TAPinto.net

NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – An Eagle Scout project could bring a gaga ball pit to Lions Park. Kevin Shan attended the Monday, Dec. 7 council zoom meeting to explain his intended and back-up projects.

Shan’s first choice project was an agility park for dogs at the back of Lions Park. However, after discussing the pros and cons of such a facility for borough dogs, the council was hesitant to approve it due to the fact that such a park is in very close proximity to the children’s playground area and residential properties. While council members welcomed the idea of a dog agility park the location was not the best for this purpose, they decided. The council was also concerned about potential liability issues should an adventurous canine roam onto the playground or neighboring properties. Therefore, Shan’s second choice project – gaga ball pit – gained the council approval.

Gaga ball is similar to dodgeball but it is played in an enclosed pit. The game consists of dodging, striking, running, and jumping. The winner is “the last person standing.”
