TRENTON, NJ - Governor Phil Murphy released the latest COVID-19 figures from around the New Jersey on Saturday afternoon, and the state broke the highest single-day rate of new cases previously set on Sunday, December 6.
There were 6,247 new cases reported, with 71 new deaths. Statewide, there are now 396,496 positive cases and 15,864 deaths, and 1,868 probable COVID-19 fatalities.
According to Murphy, Essex County has 40,650 positive cases, and followed by Bergen (40,115), Hudson (36,850), Middlesex (36,246), Passaic (34,930), with 935 under investigation.
Four counties reported over 500 cases, Middlesex (567), Bergen (542), Camden (520), and Ocean (512.) Four counties had over 400 new cases, Hudson (495), Passaic (489), Essex (480), and Monmouth (443.)
Two counties had over 300 cases, Burlington and Morris both with 312.
Three counties reported over 200 new cases, Union (291), Gloucester (236), and Mercer (227.) Three counties reported over 100 new cases, Atlantic (175), Somerset (148), and Cumberland (101.)
As of 10 p.m. Friday, there were 3,543 people hospitalized, 690 patients in ICU and 438 on ventilators.
