Fans are encouraged to continue to follow @EMUWBB on social media and visit EMUEagles.com for the most up-to-date information on all things EMU women's basketball.

BACK IN #MACtion: The Green and White's 2020-21 campaign marks the 40th season Eastern Michigan will compete as a member of the Mid-American Conference. Having been a member of the Cleveland, Ohio-based league since the 1981-82 campaign, EMU has compiled a 288-367 record against conference opponents all-time.

EMU IN MAC OPENERS: Eastern Michigan opens its 40th Mid-American Conference slate Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Ball State.
The Green and White are 18-21 all-time in league openers dating back to 1981-82. EMU has won 12 of the last 18 MAC-opening tilts going back to the 2002-03 season, the most recent of which was a 67-56 triumph over Bowling Green, 78-61, on Jan. 4, 2020.

RING CHASING: Eastern enters league play in search of its first conference championship since 2012. That year, the Eagles captured both the MAC West and MAC Tournament titles. Overall, EMU has claimed four division crowns (2004, 2006, 2008, 2012) and two tournament championships (2004, 2012).

SUPER SOPHOMORE: Redshirt sophomore Ce'Nara Skanes had a debut week to remember for Eastern Michigan. Skanes began the 2020-21 campaign with an impressive performance at Southern Illinois, Nov. 25. In that outing, her first as an Eagle, she recorded 11 points and nine rebounds. The nine boards tied for the team lead. She added two blocks and one steal in that game.
Her follow-up performance against UIC, Nov. 29, was even more eye-popping. In that game, Skanes dominated every aspect. She recorded 30 points on 14-of-25 (56%) shooting. That performance is the first 30-point game by an Eagle since Feb. 8, 2020, when Jenna Annecchiarico dropped 31 on Western Michigan. Additionally, the scoring feat is tied for the third-best by any player in the MAC this season. Skanes is also the youngest player in the conference to score 30 points in a game this season. In addition to her point scoring, Skanes added 11 boards to notch her first-career double-double.
Skanes is first in the MAC and 59th nationally in blocked shots (3), first in the MAC and 15th nationally in field goals made (18), first in the MAC and 48th nationally in rebounds (20), and first in the MAC with one double-double on the year. She is second in the conference with a 10.0 rebounds per game average.

COMBS KEEPS CLIMBING: Redshirt senior Areanna Combs continues to shine for the Green and White in 2020-21. The Oklahoma City native dropped 13 points in her latest outing, against UIC, Nov 29. The performance, a modest one by Combs' standards, was the 26th game in-a-row in which she has recorded 10+ points. That streak is second in the conference behind Central Michigan's Micaela Kelly.

STEAL THE DEAL: Last season, the Eagles were fantastic at stealing the rock, finishing fourth in the Mid-American Conference with 8.57 steals per game. Redshirt senior Areanna Combs was first on the team and fourth in the MAC with a 2.2 SPG average in 2019-20.
The Eagles appear to be off to a great start on the defensive end of the floor once again in 2020-21. EMU racked up an incredible 11 steals en route to turning Southern Illinois over 18 times on Nov. 25, before nabbing 18 steals against UIC, Nov. 29. The 18 steals is just one behind EMU's top mark in the 2019-20 campaign (19 at UIC, Dec. 18). EMU leads the MAC in both steals (29) and steals per game (14.5), numbers which sit at No. 7 and 11 in the nation, respectively. Junior Jenna Annecchiarico and Combs are first and second in the MAC with their respective 4.5 and 4.0 steals per game averages. Annecchiarico's eight steals against UIC, Nov. 29, was a career-high.

DOMINANT DEFENSE: EMU's defensive efforts have been strong through two games this season. The Eagles are the best in the conference in the scoring defense category, allowing just 59.0 points per game, and also lead the MAC is steals (29) and steals per game (14.5). Additionally, Eastern is the league leader in turnover margin (8.5), and is fourth in the league in both offensive rebounding (13.5 per game) and defensive rebounding (28.5 per game). The Eagles rank third in the MAC in blocked shots (7 total).

JUANITA SCORES HER SEASON-HIGH: Redshirt junior guard Juanita Agosto scored a season-best eight points against the Flames of UIC, Nov. 29. The performance was the ninth in her career with eight-or-more points. Agosto is fourth on the team in scoring average this season (5.5 ppg).

DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE: With redshirt sophomore Ce'Nara Skanes' 30-point, 11-rebound double-double against UIC, Nov. 29, she became the latest Eagle to record a game in that category. As of today, there are now five players on EMU's roster to have recorded at least one game of the sort. She joins junior Jenna Annecchiarico – 1, senior Autumn Hudson – 2, senior Courtnie Lewis – 3, and redshirt senior Areanna Combs – 4.

THREE-POINT POISON: EMU struggled mightily from behind the arc against UIC, Nov. 29. The Eagles were 0-for-15 from three-point land in the effort. The game is the first under fifth-year head coach Fred Castro in which the team has not hit from deep. Prior to Sunday's contest, EMU only had one game in the Castro era where it failed to knock in at least two triples; that game was a 60-54 loss to Denver, Nov. 24, 2017. EMU was 1-for-10 from deep in that contest.

ALL-TIME AGAINST THE CARDINALS: The Eagles will meet Ball State on the hardwood for the 84th time in program history Wednesday, Dec. 2. Holding a 44-39 lead in the all-time series, the Eagles took two-of-three from the Muncie, Ind.-based institution last season, including a thrilling 64-63 win over the No. 2-seeded Cardinals in the quarterfinal round of the 2020 Mid-American Conference Tournament. The two squads split their regular season meetings last season, with each claiming victory on its home court.

LAST TIME IN MUNCIE: Despite taking a lead into the halftime break, Eastern was unable to hold off Ball State, ultimately falling 59-54 in Muncie, Jan. 11, 2020. A heartbreaking finish saw the Cardinals take a one point lead, 55-54, with just 1:13 remaining in the game.
The Eagles were led by Areanna Combs, who paced the team in both points (18), and rebounds (11). The game marked her seventh consecutive double-digit scoring effort, and went in the books as her first double-double in an EMU uniform. That streak, still alive, is now at 26 games.

EASTERN ROOTS IN MUNCIE: Two Eastern Athletics staff members have direct roots to Muncie. Eastern Michigan head volleyball coach Darcy Dorton is originally from the Delaware County city, while Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee both completed his undergraduate degree at Ball State (1997), and also served as a graduate assistant in its ticket office from 1997-99.

ON THE HORIZON: EMU will remain on the road as it travels to Southeast Missouri State for a non-conference matchup with the Redhawks Sunday, Dec. 6. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
