SHELTON, Neb. (KSNB) - Angel Lehn has already had quite the season this year for the Shelton Boys Basketball Team, but he took it to a whole new level in the team’s 55-45 win over Arcadia-Loup City.
The senior scored 33 points, just three shy of the school record, and pulled down an incredible 21 rebounds.
“This is my 51st year coaching and I don’t think I’ve ever had a kid that had 21 rebounds. I mean he just was in the zone,” Shelton Boys Basketball Coach Dave Oman said. “He had some nice shots and played really well offensively, and did a nice job on the boards.”
“I think it’s just being tenacious, being able to calm yourself and see what’s going on,” Lehn said.
After losing eight letter winners a season ago Shelton has heavily relied on Lehn to wear multiple hats this season.
“He can go inside or outside, he’s a good three point shooter, a good free throw shooter,” Omah said. “It’s really been good having him around, he’s been a leader for us on and off the floor.”
“It was definitely a big step up from my past role, which was running from three point line to three point line,” Lehn said.
All the hard work he has put into this season is really paying off.
“We have a shooting machine and his grandpa is a custodian here, and he comes up and shoots a lot,” Oman said. “He puts in a lot of extra time and I think that’s why his skills are as good as they are.”
“It’s really coming together this year and honestly it’s been great,” Lehn said.
Lehn is committed to play basketball at Doane University next season.
