ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 3-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team earned a 195.850-195.000 victory over No. 4 Minnesota on Friday (Jan. 22) in a top-five showdown to open the Big Ten Conference season at Crisler Center.

The Wolverines became just the fourth program to score a 49.400 or better on uneven bars in its first two meets of the season since 1998. Michigan scored back-to-back 49.400s on the bars, joining Florida, Georgia and Oklahoma in accomplishing the feat.

Junior Natalie Wojcik earned won two event titles and all-around for the second straight week, winning on bars (9.925) and balance beam (9.950) while capturing her 15th career all-around title with a 39.600.

Junior Abby Heiskell scored a career-best 9.900 on the uneven bars, while Nicoletta Koulos notched a 9.825 on the bars in her career debut. Gabby Wilson posted a career-best 9.825 on balance beam and Naomi Morrison earned a 9.850 for a career-high on the vault.

The Wolverines scored a 49.275 on the vault in the first rotation behind Heiskell and Wilson, who scored matching 9.875s to place third behind Minnesota's Lexy Ramler and Ona Loper.

U-M maintained its lead through the second rotation, taking the top three spots on bars behind a team-high 9.925 from Wojcik for the event title and Heiskell posting a career-best 9.900 to finish second. Maddie Mariani and Sierra Brooks earned 9.875s to tie for third overall and help Michigan to a 49.400 team score.

Wojcik and Lauren Farley were bright spots in the beam lineup for the Wolverines with Wojcik capturing her second straight beam title and Farley placing third with a 9.875. Junior Abby Brenner and Wojcik led U-M on floor exercise, tying for second overall with 9.875s to secure Michigan's victory over Minnesota.

The Wolverines will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 30, when they take on Ohio State in Columbus. The meet is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
