Watkins is not currently committed to playing college hockey, but she does want to play at the Division I level.
HERMANTOWN, Minn. – The prep hockey world is still buzzing after Proctor/Hermantown’s Alyssa Watkins scored five goals in a win over Luverne in the Class A state quarterfinals.
Watkins is not currently committed to playing college hockey, but she does want to play at the Division I level. And maybe her performance could help with some much-deserved exposure.
“Obviously, this is one of the biggest stages in high school hockey that we can play on. Obviously nice I had the opportunity to score five goals and then just get the success with the rest of the team,” Watkins said.
“She’s getting notice and hopefully after the season is done, coaches will be able to take a look at her. The situation is a little tough with roster spots and now COVID. But we’ve been talking with a handful of schools with her so hopefully we’ll be able to find her a home, and she’ll fit in just perfect wherever she ends up,” said Mirage head coach Emma Stauber.
Watkins and the Mirage will face Warroad Thursday in the state semi-finals.
