Women's Track and Field Posts Top-Five National Marks - The College of New Jersey Athletics - The College of New Jersey Athletics

GALLOWAY, N.J. –

The TCNJ women's track and field team returned to full action at the Stockton Invitational on Friday.
 
"Today was a day to have fun competing again," said head coach Justin Lindsey. "I believe the pandemic has brought our team even closer and it showed today."
 
The Lions' middle distance runners led the way for the team at the meet. Amanda Demko, Megan Gasnick, Alli Uhl, and Kassidy Mulryne finished one-two-three-four in the 400-meters. Demko crossed the line first with a time of 58.84 in her first collegiate race. Demko's time currently ranks third nationally. Gasnick's time of 59.09 ranks fourth in the country and Uhl's time of 59.29 ranks seventh nationally.
 
Victoria Purritano and Emily Hirsch ran one-two in the 400-meter hurdles. Purritano stopped the clock with a time of 1:06.75. Purritano's time is good for fourth in the country currently.
 
TCNJ's relays also began the year strong. Ashlyn MacLure, Shannon Lambert, Sam Gorman, and Dana DeLuca won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 50.76. Gasnick, Demko, Gorman, and Uhl won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:08.04. The 4x400 team currently ranks fourth in the nation.
 
"I thought the race went good," said Demko. "It was definitely tough with the wind, but it was a great way to work on form. It was fun to get back to competing and watching everyone do awesome."
 
Gorman placed third in the 100-meters with a time of 13.16. Demko added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meters, crossing the line at 27.39. Purritano claimed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, stopping the clock at 17.43. Grace Coconower was the top Lion in the 800-meters, finishing sixth in 2:36.18. Emily Forester finished fourth in the 1,500-meters with a time of 5:28.71. Paige Hammond placed third in the 3,000-meters with a time of 12:05.90.
 
In the field events, Amanda Murillo won the javelin with a toss of 36.36 meters. Her throw ranks 12th in the country.
 
Megan Macaluso cleared 1.50 meters in the high jump for second place. Michelle Meyers cleared 2.75 meters in the pole vault to claim sixth. Beverly Cadet placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 4.17 meters. Edith Gonzalez was the top finisher for TCNJ in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw, placing eighth, ninth, and ninth respectively.
 
The Lions return to action on Saturday, April 3 at the Oscar Moore Invite hosted by Rowan.
