In the bottom of the third inning of the White Sox-Angels game, Anthony Rendon hit a fly ball to shallow center field and Chicago shortstop Tim Anderson backpedaled in an attempt to make the catch. However, center fielder Luis Robert ran 134 feet from his spot in the outfield, appearing to call Anderson off and getting in position to make the routine play.
Instead, the ball bounced off Robert's head -- with a dramatic bounce -- a run scored and Rendon made it on base without issue. The play had a 95 percent catch probability, per Statcast.
That wasn't the end of the goofiness, though. White Sox right fielder Adam Eaton snatched the ball from where it landed in the outfield grass in an attempt to catch David Fletcher as he sprinted towards the plate all the way from first, but the throw was off target and caromed off the mound, ricocheting to the backstop. Rendon advanced to second base on the error.
Robert made up for it almost right away, however, knocking an RBI single with one out in the fourth to pull the White Sox even.
