Blue Raiders Win Five Titles at Tennessee Challenge - GoBlueRaiders.com

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee track and field team concluded an impressive Saturday of competition at the Tennessee Challenge. The Blue Raiders collected 16 podium finishes and five event titles overall.
 
Jumps
In the women's high jump, Esther Isa would take the gold with a 1.80m jump. Erhire Omamuyovwi would complete the Blue Raider sweep with a 2.17m jump to claim the men's high jump title.
 
Akera Benton used a 5.67m jump to garner an eighth-place finish in the women's long jump.
 
In the women's triple jump, Esther Isa would take the gold with a 12.59m jump.
 
Throws
Regina Yeboah threw 9.05m to finish 13th in the women's shot put.
 
Regina Yeboah used a new personal best 31.14m throw to finish sixth in the women's javelin throw.
 
Sprints
Quincey Riley established a new personal best of 10.89 to finish seventh in the men's 100m.
 
Dorcas Gyimah established a new personal best in the women's 200m with a time of 24.91 to finish sixth.
 
Amarachukwu Obi (54.70) took the gold, and Quanisha Marshall (57.92) took the bronze in the women's 400m. Jaquez Torian led the way in the men's 400m with a 47.00 to capture the bronze. Michael Fuqua (49.03), Matthew Stewart (49.24), and Nickson Pierre (49.28) finished sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively. Darian Jones (49.99) would round out the order with a 10th place finish.
 
Middle Distance
Patience Akanwogba ran a 2:15.41 to finish seventh in the women's 800m. Brian Rono led the men's 800m with a 1:50.41 to capture the silver, while Jacob Choge followed right behind him with a 1:51.38 to take the bronze. Stephen Mengich (1:51.82) and Isaiah Strauel (1:53.93) finished fifth and eighth, respectively.
 
In the women's 1500m, Eusila Chepkemei ran a 4:22.29 to take the gold. Jacob Choge notched a second-place finish on the men's side with a time of 3:49.58.
 
Long Distance
Joice Jebor used a new personal best 10:37.62 in the women's 3000m steeplechase to take the silver, while Caitlin Cunningham finished fourth with an 11:11.29. On the men's side, Kigen Chemadi broke his school record with an 8:35.75 to capture the gold.
 
Hurdles
Glory Nyenke notched the bronze in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.21.
 
Relays
The women's 4x100m relay of Ida Mensah, Amarachukwu Obi, Akera Benton, and Cecilia Francis ran a 3:11.88 to capture the silver.
 
The Blue Raider women's 4x400m relay finished second with a time of 3:41.77.  In the men's 4x400m relay, Middle Tennessee recorded a time of 3:13.26 to finish second.
