KENT, Ohio – Five members of the Kent State University field hockey team received All-Mid-American Conference honors, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon. Junior Helena Cambra Soler and senior Clara Rodriguez Seto earned first team honors while senior Emma Bressler, sophomore Maria Cambra Soler, and senior Azure Fernsler earned second team recognition.
(Helena) Cambra Soler was dominate at her position all year for Kent State. She ranked tied for fourth in total points for the Flashes with 15 and started all 14 games. On the season, Cambra Soler had 5 goals, one of which was a game winner, and 5 assists. She scored in 5 different games and registered at least one point in 9 different games.
Rodriguez Seto was also crucial to Kent State's success this season. Rodriguez Seto started all 14 games for the Flashes and led the team in points with 20. She registered at least one point in 9 games this season, and in three of those games she registered multiple points. Her best game came against Bellarmine where she secured a hattrick in the first quarter alone. Rodriguez Seto earned Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors that week. On the season, she totaled 6 goals, scoring in four different games and netting two game winners, and 8 assists.
Bressler contributed greatly on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball for Kent State. Bressler registered at least one point in 8 different games for the Flashes, including two multi-point games. She started all 14 games for Kent State and ranked third on the team in total points with 17. Bressler scored in 6 different games this season, including one game winner, and also registered a defensive save. She totaled 6 goals and 5 assists on the year.
(Maria) Cambra Soler was rock solid all season for Kent State defensively, registering a defensive save and starting all 14 games for the Flashes. On top of locking down opposing teams' offenses, Cambra Soler registered a point in four different games and finished the season with one goal, four assists, and six total points.
Fernsler led Kent State to ten wins on the season as opposed to just three losses in the 13 games she started. Fernsler allowed more than 2 goals in a game only twice all year and helped secure 6 shut outs for the Flashes, 3 solo and 3 combined. She finished the season with a GAA (goals allowed against) of 1.28 and a 0.754 save percentage.
The Flashes ended the 2021 Spring season with an 11-3 overall record and were 9-3 in conference play.
