MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State Athletics has unveiled the Ball YOU program to prepare student-athletes for the NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) era.
By taking elements of established student-athlete development programming and merging those with new offerings commensurate with developing Name, Image and Likeness opportunities, Ball State Athletics is launching "Ball YOU", a branding solution strategically designed with the next era of the college athletics enterprise in mind.
"We are thrilled to continue to provide high-level, personal development tools for our student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Beth Goetz. "Ball YOU creates a blueprint that is comprehensive yet flexible enough to evolve with the NIL era."
Ball YOU is guided by three main focal points:
The Starting Line
Featuring education around NIL policies and/or legislation along with leveraging opportunities, student-athlete brand assessments, content and asset offerings including photo/video sessions along with talent assessment by professionals.
Nest Tool Chest
The tool chest will include contract education, business creation insights, licensing and endorsement best practices, intellectual property education, media training, how to conduct camps, clinics or lessons along with a vault of assets and storytelling education.
Take Flight
Take Flight is an established leadership development initiative and will continue to include career exploration, resume and LinkedIn workshops, the innovative Gainbridge Leadership Series focusing on Financial Advising and Literacy in the NIL age, Professional Communication, How to Nail Interviews, Building Confidence and Ergonomics along with programming around the aforementioned talent assessment.
Ball YOU and student-athletes will benefit from a pair of foundational campus partnerships to bolster the aforementioned points. The highly-regarded Miller College of Business will help guide branding and marketing elements of the program while the award-winning Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute will work with student-athletes on talent assessments, personal mission and additional key personal development programming.
"We support our student-athletes in this endeavor to leverage their Name, Image and Likeness," Goetz added. "We look forward to moving onward to enhance the student-athlete experience, their goals and their respective futures when the uniform is removed for the last time as a Cardinal. It only makes sense to collaborate with campus experts to launch our program and we are grateful for their partnership and expertise."
