Five men charged following Hoboken fights - The Hudson Reporter

Hoboken police officers arrested five men after responding to reports of a large fight where a handgun was seen.

According to the Hoboken Police Department, on Wednesday, June 2,  at about 12:46 p.m., Hoboken Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Third and Harrison streets on a report of a group of men fighting in the street. It was also reported that one of the men was seen with a handgun.

There was a large crowd of about 25 people at the scene.

Sergeant Donald Rosso saw a man getting punched in the face by a man identified as Mickey Mendez, 21, of Jersey City.

Rosso placed Mendez under arrest, and a search revealed that he was allegedly in possession of a sock filled with a Duracell D battery.

Mendez was transported to police headquarters, processed,  and charged on a warrant with Riot, Disorderly Conduct, Simple Assault, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Center.

As officers attempted to disperse the crowd that grew larger, two other individuals began to fight each other.

Officers separated them, and they were placed under arrest.

They were identified as Hoboken residents Jamil Rivera, 20, and  Kyeise Lopez, 22.

They were transported to headquarters, processed, and charged with Riot, Disorderly Conduct, and Simple Assault. Lopez was released on a summons. Rivera’s charges were placed on a warrant, and he was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Center.

About an hour later, while officers were patrolling the area, two brothers Joseph Crandell, 28, of Hoboken and Keshon Crandell, 21, of  Hoboken, allegedly assaulted a man in the area of Third and Harrison streets.

The brothers were identified as being in the crowd when officers first arrived. They were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. They were charged with Riot, Disorderly Conduct, and Simple Assault. Joseph was charged with Resisting Arrest, and his charges were placed on a warrant. Joseph was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Center. Keshon’s charges were placed on a summons, and he was released.

No handgun was found during the investigation.
