The sixteen free passes by an opposing pitching staff has got to be a record. The big inning for Wenatchee came in the third when they brought 9-men to the plate and scored two of its three runs in the frame on bases-loaded walks.
Andrew Grob led the way for Wenatchee at the plate, going 2-for-4 with 2-runs and an RBI. John Newman, Jr. also collected two hits, a run and an RBI. Jared Ingman worked an inning of relief on the mound to earn the victory while striking out three.
The two teams go at again tonight at Story Field in Longview at 6:35. Trey Miller will make his first start of the season for the AppleSox. The South Carolina Upstate sophomore has pitched two innings so far this summer, allowing no runs on 5-hits with a strikeout.

In non-league play, Port Angeles won its 3rd-straight against non-league opponents with its 11-5 win over the Highline Bears.
Justin Folz capped a comeback by Walla Walla at Borleske Stadium with a walk-off, RBI single in the bottom of the 9th as the Sweets topped Cascade Collegiate 5-4.
Coming up on the West Coast League Schedule tonight, there you see Wenatchee and Cowlitz at 6:35. Also at 6:35 it’s Yakima Valley at Ridgefield; Bellingham hosting Bend; Cascade Collegiate at Walla Walla; Highline at Port Angeles. And tonight at 7:05 it’s Corvallis at Portland.
Officials need badly in all prep sports
We mentioned the other day that high schools in our region were able to fit three seasons into 15-weeks. They were only able to do so because of the availability of officials. Across the state and the nation, however, official shortages are becoming a real problem which could result in future game cancellations.
