Reagan baseball player Zack Middleton met with HighSchoolOT Triad reporter Zack Adams after the team's 12-2 victory over West Forsyth in the Central Piedmont 4A Conference Tournament championship. The Raiders' center fielder went 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBI.

Zach just talk about what you saw from your guys this evening, getting the win and mercy real fashion, you know, uh we were down our thursday night started, you know, but guys came through school through, put the bat on the ball pretty well and overall we just shut off the game, that's all I got. So you went three for three at the plate with four RB. Just, what do you think it's cooking for? You personally, just seeing the ball? I mean, you know, run it over the plate, you know, we're gonna hit it. So uh your team kind of faced adversity falling down to zero and then y'all responded with 46 and two runs and I have final three times. Uh you all went to the plate. Just what adjustments do you think that your teammate? I think it's just the energy we had in the bond we have with all the guys, you know, when we're down guys. Just, we just flew together. So no, So many seniors on this Reagan team of course losing 2020 season because of the pandemic. Just what's been the message from your class down to some of the younger guys? Um you know, losing that season. It really sucks man. But really guys just got a got to do what they can while they can enjoy enjoy what they have, you know, because you never know when you're gonna lose it. So I'm losing to west recite the last time you all played. But y'all did uh split the regular season series. But just what do you think it was different between this game and the last time you played? Of course, you know, taking, taking that, lost its hard and you know, we owed him one. So we just came out knowing that we owed them and we had to put some numbers up on the board to win the game and get that feedback. So of course, this is not the large goal that's coming up starting next week, but just how important you think it is uh for this team to clinch the conference tournament title, you know, it's good momentum going into the States, you know, one conference won the tournament, I think, I think it's what we really need to going into these next two weeks to finish this thing out and go all the way. So the final question Zach, what do you think it's going to take for Reagan to get over the hump and possibly win a state championship? We're just gonna have to keep playing the way we can play. You know, pitchers, get up there through strikes, play defense behind him and like I said earlier, just putting the bat on the ball, you know, uhh we can we can do all those. I mean, that that state championships ours man.
