The Oglebay Park Men’s Golf Club resumed last Sunday, conducting its seventh tournament of the season.
The duo of Marty Crinkey and Chris Kelly captured the top prize in the Michelob Ultra Two-Man Best Ball event, which was sponsored by Carenbauer Distrbuting.
They won via a scorecard playoff against Mike Voellinger and Joe Key as well as Shawn Schwertfeger and Dave Scollick.
The teams of Zach Hood and Jonathan Kreiter, Mike Ricci and Grant Van Laar, Mike Wetzel and Fred Wetzel, Jim Dailer and Bill Glitch all posted a round of 63.
Numerous skill prizes were awarded during the event, which attracted 86 golfers.
Skill prizes winners were Rich Humphrey (closes to the pin on No. 2), Chris Kelly (long drive on No. 4), Jay Davis (closest to the pin on No. 5); Zach Hood (closest to the pin on No. 7); Jim Dailer closes to the pin on No. 10; Mark Feiszli (long putt on No. 11), Mike Neal (long drive on No. 12), Penn Kurtz (closes to the pin on No. 13) and Rich Humphrey (closest to the pin on No. 16).
WHEELING PARK GOLF LEAGUE
The Wakims Bar event was held last Sunday.
Mike Brickner was the winner with a score of 65. He was nine shots better than Ron Heatherly and 10 shots clear of Tony Coppa, Roger Kupfer and Art Lightner.
In the handicap scoring, Nick Klamut was the winner with a round of 63. Gary Mercer was second with a 63. Joe Haught (64), Bob Green (64) and Josh Green (68) rounded out the top five.
The Heavenly Monuments event was held on June 25. Rich Humphrey prevailed with a round of 32. He was three shots better than Mike Brickner and Mike Mazure. Dave Yeager and Gary Beighley each finished with a round of 39.
Robbie Evans won the handicap scoring with a 29. He was four better than Joe Wurtzbacher and five shots clear of Steve Usenick, Jim Ennis and Tony Campbell.
BUCKEYE LOCAL SCRAMBLE
The Buckeye Local Football Alumni Club held its annual golf scramble last Saturday at Paradise Hills Golf Course in Yorkville.
The team of Chris Leoni, Jason Lucarelli, Bob Mayhugh and Ed Leonard finished 15-under par to win the event by three shots over four other teams.
One of the highlights of the round came on the 15th hole when Austin Anderson recorded an ace.

JUNIOR TOUR
The tour made its lone stop in Belmont County last Monday with the event being played at Belmont Hills Country Club.
Barnesville senior-to-be Carter Wells — playing on his home course — fired a round of 3-over, 75 to take the medalist honor. He was a shot better than Shad Kenily.
Nathan Cline was fourth and St. Clairsville’s Saul Crist finished fourth with an 82. Aidan Allen, John Paul Birong and Jacob Hanner all tied for fifth with an 83.
In the 13-15 year old division, Chatum Courson fired an 86 for the win. Owen Lutz was second with an 85 and Andrew Abel and Brodi Foster tied with a round of 86.
Gavin Gress and Colton Gress both posted rounds of 38 in the 12U division, but Gress was the winner via playoff. Brady Evans was third with a 43.
Susan Thompson won the 16-18 year old girls division crown with a score 89. He was nine shots better than Riley Schie.
In the 13-15 year old division, Olivia Baker posted a round of 44 to win by a shot over Olivia Poziviak. Addy Burris and Hannah Steiner both posted a 49.
ST. CLAIRSVILLE JUNIOR GOLF INVITATIONAL
The St. Clairsville golf program will hold a junior tournament at Belmont Hills Country Club on Monday, July 19. The event is open to boys and girls ages 12 through college. There will be separate divisions based on ages. Boys 12U and girls 13U will play a 9-hole event. Boys 13-15, 16-18, girls 14-15 and 16-18 as well as college-aged players will play 18. There will be different tees for the different age groups as well.
The cost to enter is $35 for the 9-hole event and boys aged 13 and older and girls 14 and older the entry fee is $45. For more information, please contact Michele Merritt at 740-391-5678.
NICK GAUDINO
JUNIOR TOURNAMENT
The inaugural Nick Gaudino Memorial Junior Golf Tournament will be held on Tuesday, July 20 at Oglebay Park’s Crispin Course. It will be a nine-hole tournament with six divisions and is slated for the first group to tee off at 12:45 p.m.
The tournament will be broken down into separate boys and girls divisions for 10th through 12th grade, 8th and 9th grader and seventh grade and below. The top three placers in each division, both boys and girls, will receive a trophy. Pizza and pop will be provided for each participant after the event. The entry fee is $8. Players in grades seventh grade and under may ride on a cart, with their parents, but other players must walk and carry their clubs or utilize a pull cart.
According to a release, Gaudino was a resident of Triadelphia and who caddied in his teenage years at Wheeling Park Golf Course. He was drafted to serve in the army in WWII and made four amphibious landings in the South Pacific.
In his fourth landing, he was seriously wounded, resulting him being multiply handicapped throughout the rest of his life. He spent nearly four years recovering in an army hospital. After his release from the hospital and the service, he played golf (mostly one handed) for more than 30 years as a member of the Wheeling Park and Oglebay Golf Clubs.

There will be door prizes and raffles as well. Proceeds from the event benefit the Barnesville bowling teams. THE 11TH Annual Vance Deihl Memorial Scholarship Scramble is being held on Saturday, July 17 at Cadiz Country Club. THE OHIO Valley Wrestling Officials Association will hold its annual golf scramble on Saturday, Aug. 14 at Cadiz Country Club. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. and dinner is slated to be served at approximately 6 p.m. The entry fee is $260 per four-person team and that fee includes golf, prizes, skins game, dinner and beverages.
There will be prizes for the longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin on selected par 3 holes. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, including a $500 major sponsor which includes entry for one team.
