BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With Lehigh students set to return to campus next month for the 2021-22 academic year, head coach Fran Troyan has announced the addition of five newcomers to the Lehigh softball program.

Lehigh's class of 2025 features a pair of pitchers, a catcher and two infielders. Geographically, the class covers both the east and west coasts. Three of the newcomers hail from California, while Massachusetts and Virginia are also represented.

"We are very excited to welcome these five talented student athletes from across the country," Troyan said. "Our roster size last spring ended up being fairly small.  These five players will add depth and talent to our mix right away."

The Mountain Hawks went 18-16 in 2021 and reached the championship round of the Patriot League Tournament for the fourth straight season. The five newcomers join a returning core that includes four All-Patriot League honorees from the 2021 season.

More information on the class of 2025 can be found below.

Hanna Aldrich • IF • Taunton, Mass. • Arts and Sciences
Infielder Hanna Aldrich comes to Lehigh from Taunton high school in Massachusetts. A .625 hitter with 44 RBIs as a senior, Aldrich was 13-for-13 on stolen bases and set school record with 15 home runs in 2021, earning Hockomock League Co-MVP honors. Aldrich won her league's Underclassman of the Year award as a freshman and a sophomore and has earned All-Scholastic honors from the Boston Herald and Boston Globe. She played her travel softball for Rhode Island Thunder Gold Lotti.

Troyan on Aldrich: "Hanna is a baller.  She loves to play, and she plays hard.  We love that her high school won a state championship in Massachusetts.  We also hold her travel ball organization, the Rhode Island Thunder Lotti, in high esteem.  We are confident that Hanna will be a fighter."

Anna Bjorklund • P • San Clemente, Calif. • Arts and Sciences
Anna Bjorklund is a right handed pitcher from Crean Lutheran High School in California. She is a three-year all-league honoree, earning first team honors as a sophomore and a senior. Bjorklund served as a team captain as a senior and was runner-up for her league's Pitcher of the Year award. As a sophomore, Bjorklund led her league in strikeouts and also batted .438. She set a school record with 17 strikeouts in one game in 2019. Bjorklund earned Rookie of the Year honors as a freshman. She played her travel softball for Athletics Mercado Ornelas.

Troyan on Bjorklund: "Anna competes for a top California organization, the Athletics Mercado Ornelas.  She gets the ball in the circle for big games for them.  She is a different type of pitcher than those currently on our staff, which will be huge for Lehigh softball."

Rory Dudley • C/UT • Irvine, Calif. • Arts and Sciences
The second southern California product in the incoming class, Rory Dudley hails from Irvine, where she was a catcher and utility player for Irvine High School. Dudley was a four-year varsity starter who earned first team all-league honors in all four years. Throughout her high school career, Dudley batted .443 and won team MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year awards. Dudley was a team captain as a senior and was named Irvine's Female Athlete of the Year. She played her travel ball for the Irvine Sting.

Troyan on Dudley: "Rory is an athlete. While she has been trained primarily as a catcher, we expect Rory to play multiple positions. It will be fun to see Rory develop as a player. Coming from the California Irvine Sting, Rory has been trained in an organization that is first class."

Lindsey Martin • IF/UT • Morgan Hill, Calif. • Engineering
Lindsey Martin is the third Californian in the incoming class as she hails from Ann Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill. She was a four-year varsity starter who can play third base or fill a utility role. Martin earned first team all-league honors as a senior and was honorable mention all-league as a sophomore. She also lettered and was an all-league honoree in volleyball. Martin played travel softball for Sorcerers Old Skool.

Troyan on Martin: "We saw Lindsey when she was with the California Sorcerers Old Skool organization.  That experience in her clear athleticism will serve Lindsey and Lehigh Softball quite well over the next four years."

Maria Urban • P • McLean, Va. • Arts and Sciences
Right handed pitcher Maria Urban comes to Lehigh by way of the Potomac School in northern Virginia. Urban was a three-time Division 1 first team all-state honoree and was recognized as the 2021 Division 1 VISAA State Player of the Year. She earned honorable mention and second team All-Metropolitan honors during her career from the Washington Post. Urban played her travel softball for the Virginia Glory Premier.

Troyan on Urban: "Maria comes from the Virginia Glory, one of the stronger travel ball organizations on the East Coast.  That experience will prove to be invaluable to her. We expect Maria to hit the ground running."
