All evacuation levels were lowered to Level 1 – get ready – status this morning on the Twenty-Five Mile Fire off Lake Chelan, allowing residents to return to their homes and properties.
Some of the areas around the fire had been on Level 3 – get out now – status since shortly after the fire started Aug. 15.
South Lakeshore Road at just above Fields Point Landing is open only to property owners because of safety concerns, including guardrail damage and possible falling trees, Chelan County Emergency Management said.
Fields Point Landing is open for drop-offs and pick-ups.
The fire has burned 11,116 acres and was 24 percent contained as of this morning.
Firefighting efforts have been aided in recent days by some rain showers and the arrival of additional resources with a Type 1 incident management team.
The Southwest Area Incident Management Team said today the fire is producing visible smoke because of increased wind from the north and less cloud cover.
