WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Coming off its first win of the 2021 regular season, the UNCW women's soccer team closes out its August schedule on Sunday, Aug. 29, by welcoming in-state foe UNCG to the UNCW Soccer Stadium for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest.

Sunday's game may be seen online via FloFC.com with Joe Catenacci and Tom Lamont calling the action. Live statistics for the game will also be available at UNCWStats.com. In addition, tickets for Sunday's contest can be purchased online at UNCWSports.com/BuyTickets.

UNCW evened its record to 1-1-0 on the young season after coming from behind to beat High Point, 2-1, on Thursday night. After giving up the game's first goal in the 13th minute, the Seahawks answered with goals by redshirt senior midfielder Morgan Nanni and junior forward Jordan Faveri to secure the victory.

UNCG stands 1-0-2 on the 2021 campaign after playing to a 1-1 draw at George Washington on Thursday evening. Junior forward Maddy Gilhool gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute before George Washington evened the score in the second half. The game was called in the first overtime period due to darkness.

Sunday marks the fifth all-time meeting between the Seahawks and the Spartans. UNCG has won three of the previous four encounters, but the Seahawks claimed their first victory in the series with a 4-3 triumph on Aug. 26, 2018, at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

FIVE FACTS TO KNOW
Offensive Explosion – UNCW and UNCG have combined to score 17 goals in the previous four games in the all-time series, including two games with five or more goals. The teams combined for seven markers in the last meeting three years ago in Greensboro.    
 
It's Been a While – UNCG makes its first visit to the Port City since Sept. 1, 2003, a 2-1 victory over the Seahawks. The Seahawks are hosting UNCG for just the second time in the all-time series.    
 
Close Calls – Three of the previous four meetings between the teams have been decided by one goal.    
 
On a Roll Redshirt senior midfielder Morgan Nanni has scored a goal in four of her last five games, dating back to last season. In addition, she has authored five of the Seahawks' last nine goals during that time.  

Sunday Funday – Since the start of the 2019 season, the Seahawks are 7-5-1 in Sunday contests. They posted a perfect 3-0-0 mark on Sunday during the 2021 spring season.
