WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Coming off its first win of the 2021 regular season, the UNCW women's soccer team closes out its August schedule on Sunday, Aug. 29, by welcoming in-state foe UNCG to the UNCW Soccer Stadium for a 7 p.m. non-conference contest.

UNCW evened its record to 1-1-0 on the young season after coming from behind to beat High Point, 2-1, on Thursday night. After giving up the game's first goal in the 13th minute, the Seahawks answered with goals by redshirt senior midfielder Morgan Nanni and junior forward Jordan Faveri to secure the victory.
UNCG stands 1-0-2 on the 2021 campaign after playing to a 1-1 draw at George Washington on Thursday evening. Junior forward Maddy Gilhool gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute before George Washington evened the score in the second half. The game was called in the first overtime period due to darkness.
Sunday marks the fifth all-time meeting between the Seahawks and the Spartans. UNCG has won three of the previous four encounters, but the Seahawks claimed their first victory in the series with a 4-3 triumph on Aug. 26, 2018, at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
