The NBA is opening an investigation into possible tampering violations involving the sign-and-trade deals for Kyle Lowry and Lonzo Ball that were completed in free agency, a source confirmed to The Athletic.
The league is looking into the deal that sent Lowry from the Toronto Raptors to the Miami Heat. Toronto received Goran Dragic and Precious Achiuwa in the trade.
Meanwhile, Ball, a restricted free agent with the Pelicans, joined the Chicago Bulls in a deal that sent Tomáš Satoranský, Garrett Temple and a second-round pick to New Orleans.
