Siouxland CARES About Substance Abuse and its Presenting Sponsor, Sabre Industries, Inc., are hosting the fourth annual Wiffle Ball Classic on Sunday, August 29 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. at the Miracle League Field of Sioux City. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public. In the event of inclement weather, the Wiffle Ball Classic will be moved indoors to Bishop Heelan High School.
The Wiffle Ball Classic will feature 12 community teams who will play against their competitors in a fun, two-inning game of Wiffle Ball. Teams Include:
Siouxland District Health Department v. Siouxland Community Health Center
Rosecrance Jackson Centers v. Elks Lodge #112
Bishop Heelan vs. Sioux City Mayor’s Youth Commission
Woodbury County Sheriff’s Dept. v. Sioux City Police Dept.
Juvenile Court Services v. Siouxland CARES
City of Sioux City v. Sioux City Growth Organization
There will also be an All-Star Game featuring a combination of members from both the Sioux City Mayor’s Youth Commission and the Miracle League of Sioux City.
The event will include three Home Run Derby competitions at 12:10pm, 1:25pm, and 3pm. It's $5 for 3 swings and the farthest hit per derby wins a prize! There will be both youth and adult Home Run Derby divisions and sign-up will take place at the event. The Miracle League Field offers wonderful kid-friendly amenities, including a splash pad, playground and mini golf course. These amenities will be open during the event and concessions will be available. Proceeds from the Wiffle Ball Classic will benefit Siouxland CARES’ programs.
Siouxland CARES is a community coalition comprised of 369 volunteers. Volunteers for Siouxland CARES, representing 12 community systems, contributed 3,860 volunteer hours in 2020 to Siouxland CARES programs and services. Siouxland CARES aims to improve the quality of life in Siouxland by eliminating substance abuse and related violence, and to provide opportunities for youth development.
