The Colorado Avalanche is set to host the Minnesota Wild in its preseason home opener on Thursday at 7 p.m. MT at Ball Arena, the second game of the 2021-22 preseason for the Avs.
The contest is one of three exhibition games that Colorado will host before its season opener at home on Oct. 13 versus the Chicago Blackhawks. Having opened the preseason at the Vegas Golden Knights, the Avs will face the Wild, Knights and Dallas Stars twice each before the start of the regular season.
The Avalanche (0-1-0) began the exhibition schedule with a 4-3 loss in Vegas on Tuesday while the Wild (0-1-0) opened its preseason falling 6-2 to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

HISTORY
The Avalanche went 1-1-0 against the Wild in the 2019-20 preseason, having not played preseason games in 2020-21. In the 2020-21 regular season, Colorado maintained a 5-2-1 record versus Minnesota.
The Avalanche own a 55-45-14 all-time record against the Wild during the regular season, with a 30-23-4 home record and a 25-22-10 road record.
ROSTER REPORT
Colorado reduced its training camp roster to 47 players on Wednesday afternoon, reassigning forwards Alex Beaucage, Nick Henry and Dalton Smith and goaltender Trent Miner.
The Avs will announce their game roster on Thursday morning, though head coach Jared Bednar said after Wednesday's practice that there is a "good chance" rookie forwards Alex Newhook and Sampo Ranta are in the lineup.
INJURY UPDATE
Defenseman Devon Toews (upper body) is anticipated to miss the beginning of the season, although he has been skating by himself through camp in a non-contact jersey. Prospects Tarun Fizer (upper body) and Roland McKeown (COVID-19 protocol) also remain on Colorado's injured list.
