Both the Seahawks and the Pride carry a 3-0-0 league record into Sunday's matinee after securing shutout victories on Thursday night. While UNCW edged William & Mary by a 1-0 margin in overtime, Hofstra handed Delaware a 4-0 loss in Hempstead, N.Y.
UNCW, 7-1-1 overall, is unbeaten in its last eight games after the overtime thriller against the Tribe. Freshman defender Sophie Trepohl, the reigning CAA Rookie of the Week, settled the contest when she converted a corner kick by senior defender Carey Allard in the 98th minute for her second goal in as many games.
Junior forward Jordan Faveri continues to pace the Seahawks' offense with 14 points on the strength of five goals and four assists. Graduate student forward Audrey Harding has contributed four goals with three assists.
Freshman goalkeeper Kaylie Bierman ranks second in the CAA with a 0.54 goals against average, while her .884 save percentage is tops in the 10-team circuit.
Ranked No. 10 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Division I Top 25 Poll, Hofstra has won eight consecutive games after blanking Delaware on Thursday night. The Pride has conceded just two goals during the streak while fashioning six shutouts.
Led by the trio of fifth-year forward Lucy Shepherd, senior forward Miri Taylor and fifth-year midfielder Lucy Porter, the Pride boasts one of the top offenses in the country with 30 goals in 11 games. In addition, junior goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich paces the CAA with a 0.43 goals against average and ranks third by stopping 84.4 percent of the shots she has faced.
