WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Coach Karen Barefoot and the UNCW women's basketball team play their first contest of the 2021-22 season when the Seahawks welcome Wingate to Trask Coliseum for an exhibition game on Friday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m.

Tickets for Friday's game, which are available for $8 for adults and $3 for youth, can be purchased online at UNCWSports.com/BuyTickets or at the game beginning 90 minutes prior to tip-off.

In addition, the game may be seen online via FloHoops (subscription required) with Joe Catenacci and Tom Lamont calling the action. An audio broadcast can be also heard on 95.9 The Breeze in Wilmington. Live stats will be available at UNCWStats.com.

The Seahawks, who were picked to finish ninth in the Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Order of Finish, return six letter winners from last year's team that posted a 7-14 record, including a victory over the College of Charleston in the opening round of the CAA Championship.

Sophomore guard Mary McMillan and redshirt senior guard Dazia Powell headline the group of returners. McMillan, a starter in 18 games last year, tied for third on the team with a 7.8 scoring average, while Powell chipped in 7.1 points per game and started 18-of-20 appearances.

The 10 newcomers on the roster will showcase three freshmen and seven NCAA Division I transfers.

Wingate, led by former UNCW Coach Ann Hancock, authored a 10-10 record last season. Junior forward Bryanna Troutman paced the Bulldogs offensively by scoring 13.8 points per game and ranked second on the team with an 8.2 rebounding average.

Graduate student Haleigh Brandon averaged a double-double last season, scoring 12.4 points per game while leading Wingate with 10.3 rebounds per contest.
