Max Bernal – IF/OF – Buchanan High School – Clovis, Calif.
Bernal helped powerful Buchanan High to a 2021 CIF State Championship earning Trojan Offensive MVP and Silver Slugger honors in his junior season. He hit .364 on the year, with a .412 on-base percentage and a .636 slugging percentage, adding seven home runs and 37 RBI. For his efforts Bernal was named First-Team All-League, All-Area and All-State.
"Max comes from one of the elite high school baseball programs in the country," Beard said. "He's a powerful left-handed bat, and his offensive talent and approach will make him a fit in our ballpark."

Logun Clark – C – Taft Union High School – Taft, Calif.
Clark, a catcher from Taft, Calif., is a National Top-500 prospect according to Perfect Game, a baseball recruiting media outlet, which has also named him a Pre-Season Underclassmen All-American selection in both 2020 and 2021.
A strong defensive catcher, Clark has blossomed at the plate, hitting .457 over 56 career games at Taft Union High School. He's boasts 56 runs scored and 52 RBI to go along with 72 career hits.
"Logun has developed into one of the top defensive catchers in the state due to his incredible work-ethic," Beard explained. "He's a great teammate and hit hitting is coming on like gang busters! He'll arrive physical and we're excited about where his development might take him."

Treven Crowley – RHP – Hilmar HS / Fresno State / Modesto CC – Newman, Calif.
In four seasons at Hilmar High School in Newman, Calif., Crowley made 28 appearances with 13 starts, posting an 8-4 career record with a 2.23 ERA and 183 strikeouts over 125.1 innings pitched. A two-way standout, he also hit .488 with 27 doubles, 5 triples and a pair of home runs, reaching base at a .573-clip with a 1.238 OPS.
Crowley was a Four-Time All-State selection and a two-time Trans-Valley League Offensive Player of the Year. As a junior he hit .588 in league play, to break a 40-year-old TVL record for batting average, earning Turlock Journal Player of the Year accolades. As a senior he was touted as a Top-300 national recruit by Perfect Game USA.
Crowley also played football at Hilmar, and was a two-time All-League quarterback, leading the team to a state championship. He did not throw an interception in his entire high school football career.
Crowley made eight appearances out of the Fresno State bullpen in 2021, before transferring to Modesto Junior College for the 2022 spring season.
"Treven is a twitchy right-handed pitcher with a lot of future upside," Beard noted. "He's one of the more gifted recruits we've had here and with a strong work-ethic he can play this game for a long time."

Ky Hoskinson – IF/RHP – McMinnville High School – McMinnville, Ore.
Another two-way athlete, Hoskinson was the 2021 Pacific Conference Pitcher of the Year, while also earning First-Team All-League honors as an infielder for McMinnville High School.
He hit .355 as a junior with a .437 on-base percentage and a .597 slugging-percentage, including six doubles, three triples, a home run and 17 RBI. On the mound, Hoskinson fanned 58 and walked just 14 in 41.0 innings pitched with a 0.68 earned run average. He allowed just 20 hits and four earned runs.
Hoskinson is the No. 6 ranked player in Oregon according to Baseball Northwest and the No. 10 rated player in the state by Prep Baseball Report.
"Ky is an athletic two-way player that loves to compete and has a chance to contribute early due to his physicality," said Beard. "He has upside both as an infielder and as a right-handed pitcher with a sharp breaking ball. He joins several other players on our roster who were also high-school quarterbacks."

Trent Prokes – LHP/OF – Modesto HS / Modesto CC – Modesto, Calif.
Prokes was a First-Team All-Conference selection as both a pitcher and an outfielder at Modesto High School. After earning All-Modesto Metro First-Team honors in the outfield, Prokes was named as a First-Team Central California Athletic League pitcher in 2019.
He slashed .351/.418/.491 as freshman outfielder at Modesto Junior College while making one start for the Pirates on the mound.
"Trent loves to compete and gives us a much-needed left-handed arm," Beard said. "He can really spin a breaking ball and throws his fastball well to both sides of the plate."

The Roadrunners were 20-23 in 2021, with a 17-19 conference record in their first season as members of the Big West Conference. Bakersfield returns 18 players from last year's roster and adds an exciting mix of high school prospects and college transfers ahead of the 2022 campaign.
