SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Senior Emilee Turner (Kaysville, Utah) and sophomore Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) combined for 27 kills and only five attack errors, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball fell in five hard-fought sets to DePaul, 3-2 (25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 20-25, 7-15), on Saturday.

The Pirates twice grab a set lead, winning sets one and three, but the Blue Demons rallied late for a close set-four victory and soundly defeated The Hall in set five.

SET 1:
Set one featured a match-high five lead changes before the Pirates took control late.  Trailing 12-11, The Hall went on a 10-1 run, and a block by Lucas and Madison Frusha (Huntsville, Texas) gave it a commanding 21-13 advantage.  Leading 22-16, the Pirates closed out the match on a DePaul service error and back-to-back kills by Lucas and Madeline Matheny (Wilmington, Del.).

SET 2:
Seton Hall never led in the second set as DePaul scored nine of the first 11 points to take a sizeable early lead.  The Pirates methodically cut into their deficit and a block by Frusha and Tsvetelina Ilieva (Sofia, Bulgaria) made it 17-13, Blue Demons.  DePaul rebounded though and scored four of the next five points to go back up seven.  The Pirates were able to close to within four points late, but couldn't get closer, and fell, 25-20.

SET 3:
The Pirates again found their scoring touch in the third set and led for the vast majority.  Up 5-3 early in the set, The Hall went on a 9-3 run and a kill by Frusha gave it a commanding 14-6 advantage.  The Blue Demons cut The Hall's lead to five points, 20-15, and forced a Pirate timeout, but out of the break, the Pirates scored four of the next five points.  A service ace by Matheny put Seton Hall in set point, and two points later, a kill by Turner won it. 25-17.

SET 4:
The fourth set was the closest of the match with eight ties and four lead changes.  Seton Hall scored four straight points to grab a 10-7 lead, but DePaul responded with a 9-3 run to turn a three-point deficit into a three-point advantage.  Twice Seton Hall cut their deficit to just a single point, but couldn't find the equalizer.  A block by Lucas brought the Pirates to within 22-20, but the Blue Demons scored the next three points consecutively to win, 25-20.  Despite the loss, the Pirates had a team-high .267 attack percentage in the fourth frame.

SET 5:
The decisive fifth set was controlled by DePaul from the start as the Blue Demons scored the first four points and forced an early Pirate timeout.  Out of the break, The Hall roared back with three straight, but couldn't draw even.  A kill by Lucas cut Seton Hall's deficit to 7-5, but DePaul ended the match with an 8-2 run, winning the fifth set, 15-7.
