DeKALB, IL – The Northern Illinois University women's basketball team will take the floor at the NIU Convocation Center for the first time in over a month Wednesday night when the Huskies host the Ball State Cardinals at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and locally on WLBK 98.9 FM/1360 AM, as well as on the NIU Huskies app.NIU (3-6, 0-1 MAC) is a perfect 3-0 at the Convocation Center this season, averaging over 75 points per game in wins over Illinois State, Bradley and Milwaukee. Since the start of the 2018-19 season the Huskies are 20-3 when scoring at least 70 points at home.
Junior forward A'Jah Davis (DeKalb, Ill./Montverde Academy [Fla.]) posted her Mid-American Conference-leading sixth double-double of the season last Saturday at Central Michigan. Davis led NIU with 23 points and a season-high 17 rebounds against the Chippewas, making 10-of-19 shots from the field. She leads the conference with 11.1 rebounds per game which puts her 12th in the country. Davis is also third in the nation with 5.0 offensive rebounds per game after having 11 at Central Michigan. As a team, the Huskies lead the MAC with 42.33 rebounds per game.
Ball State (7-4, 0-1 MAC) had a three-game winning streak snapped last Saturday in an 82-58 loss at Bowling Green. Senior Thelma Dis Agustsdottir led the Cardinals with 14 points in the game. Redshirt-Junior Anna Clephane leads Ball State in scoring with 16.2 points per game. Ball State leads the MAC with 17.1 assists per game and is third in field goal percentage at 43.6 percent. The two teams have split the season series in each of the last three seasons.
