MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State baseball team returns to action for a Tuesday contest at Western Michigan. The Cardinals and Broncos are scheduled to play one game with the first pitch coming at 3:05 p.m.
BSU and WMU are playing one game due to a schedule change after two games were postponed/rescheduled earlier in the season. Ball State won the two meetings earlier this season 2-0 and 12-5.
Striving Schweitzer
Tyler Schweitzer was dominant in a complete-game effort with a career-high 12 strikeouts over the weekend against Akron. He improved to 5-2 as he allowed a single run on just four hits. He held the Zips to a .160 batting average. He ranks second in the MAC with 11.60 strikeouts per nine innings. For the season, he has a 5-2 record with 49 2/3 innings pitched. He has tallied a team-high 64 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .208 against him. He bolsters an ERA of 2.90 and a WHIP of 1.13.
The Wright Stuff
Amir Wright has reached base safely in 33 of the 34 games this season and leads the team with a .349 batting average. He has 45 hits and scored 31 runs, both lead the team. He has added 18 walks, seven doubles, four triples, seven stolen bases, and one home run. Wright is currently 22nd in the nation as the toughest to strikeout and leads the MAC with a strikeout average of 12.9. He has struck out just 10 times in 129 at bats.

The Cardinal offense features 12 guys that have combined for 40 home runs. BSU is tied for 73rd in the NCAA in home runs and are third in the MAC. The team has produced 200 RBIs and has produced 217 runs.

Zach Cole is second on the team with a .348 average and has a team-best five triples. Cole has scored 18 runs, drove in 15 runs, four home runs, and has three doubles with 10 walks. Cole is second on the team with a .620 slugging percentage. Trenton Quartermaine currently has a .317 average. He leads the team with 10 home runs and RBIs with 37. He also has the best slugging percentage of the Ball State attack with a .634 slugging percentage. He is tied for the team lead with nine doubles. Quartermaine has been walked 21 times. Nick Powell has bolstered a .311 average. He is second on the team with 26 RBIs. Powell has scored 27 runs, is third on the team in doubles with eight and has hit two home runs.
