For her work both on the field and in the classroom, Hensley was named to the 2022 Softball Academic All-America Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A premedical preparation major with a 3.767 grade point average, Hensley turned in one of the most prolific seasons in program history in 2022. The four-year letterwinner became just the sixth player in program history to earn Mid-American Conference Player of the Year after leading the league in nearly every offensive category in league play.
Overall, Hensley produced the fourth-best single season batting average in program history at .404 which currently ranks 45th among all NCAA Division I players. Her .533 on base percentage was the second-best ever for a Ball State player and ranks 16th nationally, while her .814 slugging percentage was fifth all-time at BSU and is 22nd nationally.
Named one of Ball State University's Top 100 Students earlier this year, Hensley is a two-time All-MAC First Team selection and a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Great Lakes Region First Team selection.
A two-time MAC Player of the Week in 2022, she played in 52 of BSU's 53 games this past season, making 47 starts in left field and five in center field. She blasted a career-best 17 home runs in 2022, the fourth-most in a single season in Ball State history. She also tallied seven doubles and three triples, while leading the MAC with 37 total walks.
Hensley, who registered multiple hits in a team-high 22 games, also led the squad with 51 runs scored and 40 RBI in 2022.
Hensley is the first Ball State softball player to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors since the 2011 season when then-senior Alicia Barkley was named to the third team.
