Five more people have died in Connecticut after contracting COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, data released by the state Sunday morning shows.
The new deaths bring the statewide total to 4,316.
Health officials recorded 97 new cases of the disease, bringing the state’s accumulated total to 46,303.
The number of people hospitalized for the illness fell by three cases, with 103 people still being treated for the illness.
More than 9,000 tests were performed in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of tests peformed to 436,644.
New Haven, Fairfield and Hartford counties continued to have the highest numbers of patients hospitalized for the disease, with Litchfield, Middlesex and Litchfield reporting only a handful of hospitalizations.
The virus has impacted nearly every city and town in the state. As of Sunday, only two municipalities - Scotland in Windham County, and Canaan in the northwest corner of the state - have had no confirmed or suspected cases of COVID-19, according to the state data.
