Five people were arrested Saturday for an assault that allegedly took place in Green on Friday night.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Friday night just before 11:00 p.m. 911 dispatchers received a call saying that 63-year old Kenneth Hale had been assaulted by neighbors at his home in the 4300 block of Depriest Street.
O’Dell said Hale was taken to Mercy Medical Center with facial injuries and a severe injury to his eye. Hale was alert and responsive and said that 31-year old Aaron Phannenstiel had walked onto his porch and banged on the door after a verbal argument regarding fireworks. Hale claimed the other man had reached inside Hale’s home and grabbed the victim by the throat.
The report said Hale took Phannenstiel to the ground to protect himself. Hale said Phannenstiel yelled for assistance and 39-year old Lynzey Pier, 31-year old Gaige Jackson and 2 juvenile males ran over and began striking the victim in the face and body. The report said after the alleged assault the individuals fled to their residence and would not respond to law enforcement.
On Saturday detectives executed a search warrant at another home in the same block where the assault reportedly took place. Detectives arrested Phannenstiel, Pier, Jackson, and one of the juvenile males in conjunction with the assault to Hale. The second juvenile was arrested away from the residence. Phannenstiel was charged with second-degree assault and first-degree burglary and was detained on $500,000 bail. Pier and Jackson were charged with second-degree assault and each held on $250,000 bail. The male juveniles were also charged with second-degree assault and were detained at the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Center.
