EUGENE, Ore. -- Oregon alumni Donovan Neal didn't watch a lot of women's sports growing up.
"I never watched the WNBA or NWSL," Neal said.
That was until he moved to Eugene and the women's basketball team took the nation by storm.
"It was just on another level," Neal said. "The fanship, the support."
Neal was so inspired by the women's basketball program he wanted to get more people to come to the games. That's when he came up with the idea for "Women Ball Too."
"The original logo that is seen on the shirt was something I designed for a class project," Neal said.
Soon after, fellow University of Oregon alumnus Corrine Togiai joined Neal in the brand-creating process. By January 2019, the class project turned into a full-time business.
"I always wanted a Brandi Chastain or a Mia Hamm jersey and it was never available," Togiai said. "So now, even though this isn't a jersey, it still kind of embodies that women's sports merchandise that I wanted when I was younger.
Some of the most famous athletes in the world have been spotted wearing "Women Ball Too" merchandise. Neal and Togiai have even partnered with athletes such as WNBA star Diana Tuarasi and the Portland Thorns of the NWSL.
"We've sold in every state now. But for Eugene, when we do pop-ups we've seen how successful it's been," Neal said. "We sell hundreds of pieces."
Aside from the hundreds of beanies, wristbands and shirts, there is one message that remains constant.
"Women need more credit," Togiai said. "Not only in sports but in other areas too. I think it's a good to area to start something fun, like sports, to get our message across."
