With the 2020 fall sports season canceled by the COVID-19 outbreak, we at Fordham have decided to dig back through our archives and provide our fans with content on some of the outstanding teams and student-athletes who have graced Rose Hill over the years

September 2, 2001 – When opening a new season, a team wants to set a tone right away and get off on the right foot.  That is exactly what the Fordham women's soccer team did to start the 2001 campaign, netting a school record 13 goals, including five by Kirstin Gellatly, in a 13-1 win over Saint Peter's on Edwards' Parade.

The 13-goal game surpassed the previous Fordham school record of 12, set against Iona in 1996.

Eight different Rams scored a goal in the contest, beginning in the fourth minute when Beth Kitson slipped a goal into the bottom right corner off a pass from Casey Finnegan.

Fordham quickly built the lead to 4-0 by the ninth minute, as Kirstin Gellatly, Lena Daragjati, and Corey Dunfey each found the back of the net.

The Rams piled up an amazing 10 goals in the first half, compared to one by Saint Peter's, which came on a penalty kick.  Gellatly posted three of the remaining six goals in the half for the Rams, while Kitson added her second of the game with Jacqui Aines and Finnegan rounding out the first half markers.

The second half was more of the same with Fordham scoring three times to complete a record-setting day.  Gellatly scored her fifth goal of the game, tying the team record set by Danielle Tanzi in 1996, while Katie Noon and Colleen Sullivan each netted their first goal.

Overall, 11 Rams had at least a goal or an assist in the game with Gellatly adding an assist in the game to give her a single-game record 11 points.  Other top performers included Kitson, who finished with two goals and an assist, and Finnegan, who had a goal and three assists.

Gellatly would go on to finish the 2001 season with a school record 14 goals and 31 points, while the team earned a berth in the ECAC Championship at the end of the season, the team's first postseason appearance since the 1996 Atlantic 10 Championship.
