WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue baseball wraps up its fall ball season of practices and scrimmages this week with the annual Black & Gold Series, a three-game intrasquad showdown.

First pitch at Alexander Field is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The first two games are slated to be six innings and the finale on Thursday five innings. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, games are not open to the public this year. However, live stats will again be offered for all games at PurdueStats.com.

Director of player development John Madia and assistant coach Cooper Fouts were the acting general managers this year in splitting up the Boilermakers' fall roster. Therefore, the squads are named in their honor – Team Madia (Black) and Team Fouts (Gold).

Purdue's 42-man roster this fall has been split in half with 11 positions players and 10 pitchers on each squad. The Boilermakers' longest-tenured players include Skyler Hunter (Black), Cory Brooks (Gold), Trent Johnson (Gold), Ben Nisle (Gold) and Tyler Powers (Gold). Hunter has been with the program since the fall of 2016. Brooks, Johnson, Nisle and Powers all came to Purdue the following fall in time for the NCAA Regional season in 2018.

The Boilermakers welcomed 19 newcomers to the program in August – 10 freshmen and nine transfers, 11 pitchers and eight position players.

The Black Team won the 2019 Black & Gold Series two games to one on a walk-off single in the resumption of game 2, which had previously been suspended with a 5-5 tie score the day before. Tanner Haston scored the game-winning run after doubling in front of Justin Fugitt's series-deciding hit.
